Before I start this I just want to make something really clear: I am not a fan of Bubba the Love Sponge.
Never mind that I used to listen to his show on Sirius everyday. Never mind that I called myself a part of the “Bubba Army” only to feel betrayed by my portly general. Never mind that I was banned from his Twitter account because I lambasted him over his comments about down syndrome people. Oh yea and never mind I cheered and smiled when I found out Mick Foley blasted him in his fat face and bloodied his nose. I know Mick didn’t mean to hit him so hard but karma is a bitch isn’t it Bubba?
With that being said, I think it was a genius move to place Bubba with “The Band.”
Let’s face it Bubba is in TNA because of Hulk Hogan. That is reason enough for him to have heat with TNA fans but Bubba has something I call “natural heat.” Natural heat is the hatred Bubba brought on his own. It’s the heat he gets from just showing up on TV. Bubba already has his haters and he doesn’t even have to try bring heat from the crowd, it’s just there.
So why is Bubba so good for TNA? Well because he is good for “The Band.” If any of you reading this don’t know who the “The Band” is well, then you don’t watch TNA Impact. For those of you who vaguely remember Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Sixx Pac from the WCW days, then you can catch up. If you have no idea who I am talking about then you don’t watch wrestling and why are you reading this? In any event Bubba brings heat with him and it can only rub off on “The Band.” I know what you’re thinking. Yes “The Band” already has heat and are playing heel but these days heels get over so well it’s hard to keep them hated. Especially when we are talking about Kevin Nash and Scott Hall (Sixx Pac is hated no matter what) they are always so over with fans it seems they have to work extra hard for fans to boo them. Hall and Nash are still just so cool and are bound to get cheers here and there but if you place Bubba in front of them I guarantee they get heat.
If Hogan and TNA are going to insist that we watch Bubba on Impact then let him earn his pay. Maybe for once he won’t have to fly in on Hogan’s coat tails.
