We open tonight’s show with a highlight package of last night’s Career vs. Streak Match with The Undertaker defeating and retiring Shawn Michaels. Every big move in slow motion and one emotional Shawn Michaels leaving WrestleMania for the last time.
Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler are at ringside from Phoenix, Arizona. And tonight, we get Shawn Michaels’ farewell speech.
But to start, we open with Batista slowly strolling down to the ring, looking lie his normal joyous self. He yells at someone, I guess maybe for not getting his spotlight when he wanted. He eventually gets it as he is just about to hit the ring. Batista has the microphone as he waits for the crowd to die down. He says we all know that we are expected Batista is to complain, moan, and groan about WrestleMania, but he won’t give us the satisfaction. He calls last night a blip on the radar and a fluke. Nobody will remember it next month as a “you tapped out” chant starts. He says he is entitled to a rematch and he does not care what happened at WrestleMania because John Cena can’t beat him. AND THE CHAMP IS HERE!!!! Cena comes down to the ring and grabs a microphone. He says the energy from WrestleMania is still here and that some guy kept saying that Cena can’t Batista, but he must have missed last night, because it happened. And after all the talk about how Batista wanted the match, how Batista called himself the face of the company… and the face of the company tapped out. Cena says that nobody will forget WrestleMania for the moments last forever. He hypes up Shawn Michaels’ final chapter and says Batista can make history by having his rematch with Cena tonight on the most historic broadcast of Monday Night Raw. Cena then says this is when the other guy says not tonight and asks Batista to do something different and give the fans what they want. He tells Batista to prove he is the face of the company and give them the rematch tonight. Batista, of course, says not tonight and lays in with a cheap shot, but gets run off by John Cena. But form behind comes Jack Swagger with the Money in the Bank briefcase. He nails John Cena from behind and lays out Cena with the briefcase. He asks for a referee and is cashing in his shot!!! Cena is able to get an STF, but Swagger slips away and decides to not cash in his title shot. Since the bell never rang, the match never happened, and he still has his title shot. John Cena grabs his title and heads to the back.
We go to Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler and they once again hype up Shawn Michaels’ farewell. We get a video of the Heartbreak Career. This clips is of Michaels’ debut as part of the Rockers.
We are back and the WWE Slam of the Week is Randy Orton defeating Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase last night.
Back on Raw and out comes the Hall of Famer, the Million Dollar Man
! Coming out with him is Pat Patterson, IRS, Arn Anderson, and Nick Bockwinkel. And now out come Rowdy Roddy Piper with Sgt. Slaughter, Ricky Steamboat, and Tony Garea. Jerry Lawler then gets up and joins the legends around the ring. We now get the Guest Hosts for tonight, Rob Corddry and Clark Duke from Hot Tub Time Machine! They seem a little nervous as they are on stage. They announce tonight’s main event of Batista and Jack Swagger to face John Cena and whoever he gets to be a partner. They also announce a special Hot Tub match between them and the WWE Divas. And the crowd is not invited. But we do have something special in place, so we have a special 1980’s Legends Lumberjack Match.
Legends Lumberjack Match: Christian vs. Ted DiBiase
Cody Rhodes has a concussion from last night and will be out of action for a little while. We head to commercial as Ted hits the ring. We come back from the break and Christian hits the springboard sunset flip for a two count. Ted hits a kick to the face after Christian ducks too early. Ted charges, but gets thrown to the floor. The lumberjacks rolls him back in and ted levels Christian with a clothesline and gets a two count. Christian backs to a corner and Ted pounds away. He backs up and Christian gets the boot up. Christian goes for a Tornado DDT, but gets thrown off. Ted hits a boot to the face and gets a two count. Ted with a headlock, Christian to his feet, ted misses a right hand and Christian connects with the inverted DDT for a two count. Ted is able to attempt Dream Street, but Christian gets to the corner. Ted charges, but Christian slips out and gets the flip kick on Ted. Christian heads up top and hits the diving back elbow. Christian tries a Killswitch, but Ted slips out and tries a back suplex. Christian slips out and both men go to the floor off a clothesline. The legends roll both men back in and starting brawling themselves. Ted is distracted and Christian hits the KillSwitch for the three count. The Million Dollar Man checks on his son, but gets shoved off.
Winner: Christian
The next Heartbreak Moment is Shawn Michaels throwing Marty Jannetty through the Barber Shop Window.
Back from the break and we go back to Cole and Lawler, who talk about the whole week of WrestleMania. We get Cena with Jimmy Fallon and clips of various interviews with wrestlers and fans, a look at WrestleMania Axxess, the Pro-Am Gold Tournament, and the Reading Challenge.
Backstage, the guest hosts are in ropes as Santino Marella comes in and walks right out. We then go to the Hot Tub with the Bella Twins, Tiffany, and Rosa, all in bikinis. I hate these guys. The diva who lasts the longest in the hot tub wins the match. Everyone has glasses of champagne and I seriously hate those two right now.
We go to the ring and Triple H makes his way to the stage. He has the microphone and soaks in the cheers. He calls tonight a surreal night as it is the end of an era. He never thought Shawn’s career would end this way and he knew Shawn could beat him. Triple H says that it feels like just yesterday that he walked into the WWE and Shawn was standing there with his bad fashion and mullet haircut… but they took on the world. They fought everyone, side by side, back to back and face to face, but they always fought for each other. There was always the Kliq and then it was just them. He wanted to come out before the farewell… and Triple H just choked up to let an HBK chant come in. He finishes his thought to simply say to Shawn, in front of everyone… and Sheamus comes in and nails Triple H from behind with a pipe! Triple H is down as officials check on The Game.
Back from the break and we see a replay of Sheamus attacking Triple H from behind again.
Kelly Kelly, Beth Phoenix, Mickie James, Gail Kim, and Eve Torres vs. Michelle McCool, Alicia Fox, Layla, Maryse, and Vickie Guerrero
Well, it’s a rematch from last night and this time Maryse starts with Eve Torres. Eve Torres rolls up Maryse and gets the three count in ten seconds??? Vickie gets in all their faces and the face divas stand tall after a brawl. That was pathetic.
Winners: Kelly Kelly, Beth Phoenix, Mickie James, Gail Kim, and Eve Torres
The next Heartbreak Moment was WrestleMania XX and the ladder match with Razor Ramon.
Backstage, Bret Hart is walking to the ring to address the WWE Universe.
The next Heartbreak Moment, ironically, is the Iron Man match at Wrestlemania 12 and the boyhood dream coming true.
Which leads right into Bret Hart coming out to the ring. He has the microphone and he congratulates Shawn Michaels on a story book career and actually says he was one of the best wrestlers ever. He said Shawn was right about good things happening with Bret back in the WWE. He got his closure and the whole Hart family beat Vince. He says that he can feel waves of high fives from his deceased members as a huge “Owen” chant starts! He says the only taste left his mouth is joy and satisfaction and thanks the fans of the WWE and his family for the past three months. Bret gets a standing ovation… until ShowMiz comes out. The Miz questions Bret for being proud of winning a glorified 25 on 1 match against Vince McMahon. Miz calls Bret a thief and stealing time from the Miz with all the who screwed who talk. He calls himself the glorified champion in the WWE and he deserves to talk about himself, not Bret. Miz says he is 17 wins away from tying The Undertaker and not to laugh since his is awesome. Miz calls Bret overrated, along with his entire family. Miz tells Bret to leave his ring before his fist gives closure. Bret tells Miz to make him leave and Miz just looks at The Big Show. Show stands between them and Bret’s music starts again… for the Hart Dynasty to come out. They stand on Bret’s side and the Unified Tag Champs back up and out of the ring. Bret tells the two clowns to get back in the ring to face The Hart Dynasty. Miz and Show talk it over and actually walk back to the ring as we go to commercial.
Non Title Match: ShowMiz vs. The Hart Dynasty
We are back and David Smith drives down The Miz with the delayed vertical suplex. Smith clotheslines Miz to the floor and Tyson Kidd is tagged in. Kidd runs off the ropes and Smith dumps him over the tope rope onto Miz. Miz rolled in and covered for a two count. Miz tags in Show and Kidd tries anything to slow down Show. But Kidd just gets swatted away. Show just manhandles Kidd and The Miz is tagged in. Miz is whipped by Show into Kidd for the leaping clothesline splash. Miz gets two and lifts up Kidd. Kidd fights out, but Miz drives Kidd into the corner and tags in Show. Show chokes Kidd with the boot and hits a huge, loud chop. Show goes to a headlock, which could probably make a normal man pass out from no air. Miz tagged himself in and kicks away on Kidd. Kidd slips away from a headlock and tags in Smith. Smith hits a series of clotheslines and shoulder blocks before hitting a huge powerslam. Smith tags in Kidd and they hit a Doomsday Device. Kidd locks in the Sharpshooter! Big Show goes to the floor and pulls The Miz out of the ring. Show screams at Miz about listening to him and they walk to the back and The Hart Dynasty wins by countout!
Winners: The Hart Dynasty by Countout
The next Heartbreak Moment was all about Degeneration X, with Triple H and Chyna at first and then even the new age of DX over the past year or so.
The WWE rewind of the week is the Money in the Bank Match, which was won by Jack Swagger.
Back to the Hot Tub and the guest hosts freaked out both Kelly and Rosa and both leave the hot tub. From the television we see Craig Robinson, the third co-star of The Hot Tub. He calls the Bella Twins double winners and they leave the Hot Tub. In comes Mark Henry in his bathing suit and he enters the Hot Tub, sitting between the two hosts. They try to leave, but Henry makes them stay seated. One of them scream as something bit him. Out pops Hornswoggle in a snorkel! How obvious.
We once again see a replay of Sheamus attacking Triple H from behind as he was paying tribute to Shawn Michaels.
Jack Swagger and Batista vs. John Cena and Randy Orton
Jack Swagger has the microphone after he comes out and says it smells like Money in the Bank. He told us all that he would win and he was the odds on favorite. Earlier, he was just messing with Cena because we he cashes it in, he will be the odds on favorite to walk away with the WWE Championship.
Hey, the spotlight went on Batista at the right time this time around. Another huge “you tapped out” chant starts. Cena has the microphone and he makes a major announcement about his partner. Batista will definitely recognize him as an old friend… RANDY ORTON!!! I am in shock! I can’t believe I am seeing this team and Batista is pissed off.
Cena starts with Swagger and they lock up. Cena gets a quick suplex on Swagger and Randy Orton gets tagged in. Orton stomps away on Swagger’s leg as a huge RKO chant starts. Orton drops a knee and starts stalking Swagger, complete with knuckle pushups. Swagger rolls out of the ring as we go to commercial.
Back from the break and Swagger has Cena in a waistlock as we see Cena losing to the numbers game during the break. Cena reaches for a tag, but Swagger hits a back suplex for a two count. Swagger runs across the ring and leaps off the second rope with a Vader Bomb for another two count. Batista tagged in and he whips Cena hard to the corner. Batista stands on Cena’s hand before dropping him on his head. Kick to the skull gets him a two count, but Cena fights back and runs right into a spinebuster. Batista shakes the ropes and goes for a Batista Bomb, but gets backdropped. Cena is crawling and both sides get the tag. Orton with a series of clotheslines and a scoop slam to Swagger. Orton ducks a clothesline and gets the backbreaker. Batista breaks the pinfall and levels Cena with a spear! Orton gets up and hits an RKO to Batista! And one to Swagger! Orton covers Swagger and gets the three count. Orton and Cena star down as Cena grabs his belt.
Winners: John Cena and Randy Orton
We get one last Heartbreak Moment and it was Wrestlemania 25, the first match with The Undertaker at the greatest show of them all and 411mania’s 2009 Match of the Year!
Shawn Michaels is introduced and even Cole and Lawler are on their feet clapping, which is way too audible. Shawn is just soaking in all the chants and who can blame him. But he is quickly interrupted by The Undertaker… who still has the straps down from last night. Undertaker just stands in the stage and tips is hat to Shawn Michaels to a thunderous ovation. The HBK chants start again and he finally can speak. He doesn’t know what he is going to say as a “please don’t go” chant starts. He says that when he was 19 he started doing this stuff. He came into our homes every week at the age of 23 and now he is 44 and not coming into our homes every week will be tough to get used to as a “Thank You Shawn” chant starts. Shawn says he has to thank us, not us thanking him, since we may not get it, but the only thing Shawn had for a long time was the fans and the ring. It was the only place he felt good and the fans were the only people who made Shawn like himself. He said he would love to thank tons of people, but he doesn’t want to forget anyone. But he does pick out Hunter from the group and he thanks him for being his friend when nobody else wanted to touch him as he wasn’t an easy person to be around years ago. Hunter never left his side and despite how hard it is to have real friendships, he had one with him for the last 16 years. Shawn is crying now and he thanks the camera crew, the announcers, and especially Jim Ross, for making him look better than he really was. He always wants to thank a crazy red head in Stanford who makes all the promo videos of Shawn and this kid Adam makes him look like a superstar. A “one more match” chant starts and Shawn talks about career ending matches. He understands people are skeptical, but he doesn’t want to go back on his word to the people or The Undertaker. He calls himself an open book in front of everyone and he doesn’t hide anything, but he wants to honor his word and appreciates the one more match, but he doesn’t want to do it. Another “Thank You Shawn” chants goes up and he thanks Bret Hart. He said he drove that poor guy crazy in the 1990’s and he thanks him for forgiving him over that one mistake. And then there is Vincent Kennedy McMahon, who he says that there is no way he could ever work for anyone else. He thanks him for his patience as he drove him even more nuts and for the opportunity to do what he loves. He especially thanks him for not making bigger mistakes than the ones he did make and keeping him on course. Shawn thanks the fans again and soaks up another chant, before talking about all the places he has gone, people he has met, for more time than he has spent with his family. He thanks the fans for the pure honor of showing off in front of us for 25 years. Another “HBK” chant starts and he thanks his religion and last, but not least he tells his family he is coming home. He ends by saying that The Heartbreak Kid has left the building and drops the microphone. Shawn waves goodbye to each side of the ring and walks out of the ring one last time. Back up the ramp he goes, slapping hands, to more chants and stops up on the stage to wave one more time as his music kicks in one last time. Triple H comes in from behind and gives Shawn a huge embrace, before taking out some of the glow sticks and placing them in an X on the stage. Shawn waves one more time and walks backstage.
