WWE NXT Report – March 23rd, 2010

We are live on tape from San Jose, California and your announcers are Josh ‘Are you sure this isn’t San Francisco’ Mathews and Michael ‘Hello San Diego’ Cole; and your host is Matt ‘Welcome to Bakersfield’ Striker.
Matt is in the back and he talks about how we are days away from Wrestlemania and then he mentions that next week is the biggest episode because we will find out the standings and who is one step closer to becoming a WWE Star.
Regal walks to the ring closer to Wade Barrett than his own rookie.
Match Number One: Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel versus Skip Sheffield with William Regal and Wade Barrett
Sheffield and Slater lock up and Sheffield backs Slater into the corner but Slater with a side head lock. Sheffield with a shoulder tackle while Christian comes to the ring. Sheffield with a chop to Slater and then he has something to say to Barrett, but Barrett tags himself in. Gabriel tags in too. They lock up and Barrett with a knee. Gabriel flips over Barrett’s back and kicks Barrett but Gabriel misses a spin kick and Barrett tosses Gabriel in the air and he lands hard. Barrett with a kick and elbow drop and then he backs Gabriel into the corner and connects with shoulders. Barrett with an Irish whip and a rollup for a near fall. Barrett with a near fall and arm bar. Gabriel punches Barrett but Barrett with a kick. Barrett with a back kick and a gutbuster from a gutwrench for a near fall. Barrett with a front face lock and Sheffield tags in and he hits a delayed vertical suplex for a near fall. Sheffield with a slam and a splash (minus the strut) for a near fall. Sheffield with shoulders in the corner and Barrett with a tag. Barrett with a punch to Gabriel and then he punches Gabriel in the abdomen. Sheffield tags back in and he connects with more shoulders in the corner. Sheffield with an Irish whip but Sheffield misses a charge into the corner. Gabriel makes the tag and Slater with a slingshot cross body followed by forearms and a neck breaker for a near fall. Slater with a running forearm into the corner. Slater with a knee when Sheffield charges into the corner. Sheffield catches Slater off the turnbuckles but Slater with a rollup. Barrett accidentally connects with a big boot to Sheffield. Gabriel knocks Barrett out of the way and Slater gets the three count on Sheffield.
Winners: Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater
We have the Daniel Bryan video feature that aired on March 2nd. Here it is again. Bryan mentions that he is from Washington. He points out that he has been wrestling for ten years and thinks that he is better than anyone in the ring. He says that he is a submission wrestler who utilizes the entire body. He mentions that he was trained by Shawn Michaels in 1999 and says that he started with Michaels when he graduated from high school. Bryan says that he is very laid back outside the ring. He says that he has been looking at this for the last ten years and his goal is to headline Wrestlemania. This is the first step. He says that nothing will stop him from his dream.

It is time for the Darren Young video profile that aired before. We return to March 9th for this profile. He says that this is his dream, chance, and destiny. He says that he was ecstatic to be a part of NXT. He says that he has worked so hard to get where he is and now he needs to capitalize on it. He says that he has an open attitude when he comes to the ring. He says that he is here to entertain. He talks about growing up and being a fan of Ricky Steamboat and Shawn Michaels. Darren says that nobody is going to stop him from achieving his dream.

We are back with the Wrestlemania Recall: A look back at the Hollywood parodies and Batista and John Cena’s title victories. It was also the debut of Money in the Bank.
Cole and Josh talk about the match between John Cena and Batista. We have a video package.
We go to highlights from an event at the Museum of Modern Art for Syfy and David Otunga and The Miz. Otunga says that he knows why Miz chose him. Miz says that Otunga is a star while Daniel Bryan isn’t.
Match Number Two: David Otunga and Darren Young with CM Punk, Luke Gallows, and Serena versus Daniel Bryan and Michael Tarver with Carlito
Bryan and Otunga start things off and they lock up with Otunga applying a side head lock. Otunga with a shoulder tackle and he returns to the side head lock. Bryan with a top wrist lock and take down. Otunga with a head scissors but he escapes the head scissors and goes to a front face lock. Otunga with a wrist lock while Bryan bridges to escape and hits a drop kick. Tarver tags in and he works on the arm. Otunga with a forearm but Tarver stays with the arm. Otunga with a kick and then he tags in Young. Young with a kick to Tarver and he applies an arm bar. Tarver with an Irish whip but Young with a rollup for a near fall. Tarver with a kick and then Serena distracts the referee. Tarver with a shoulder tackle but Gallows trips Tarver and Tarver goes to the floor. Punk and Carlito also get involved on the floor as Tarver wants a piece of Gallows. Young misses a baseball slide and Tarver with a forearm. Tarver rolls Young into the ring and gets a near fall.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Bryan with a hammer lock and he takes Young to the mat. Bryan gets a near fall before returning to the hammer lock. Young with elbows but Bryan with a drop kick for a near fall. Tarver tags in and he kicks Young and takes Young to the mat and stays with the wrist. Young with a knee as Tarver backs to the corner. Young with an Irish whip but Tarver with a kick. Young puts Tarver in the ropes and connects with a forearm to the back and then he drives Tarver into the mat. Punk isn’t even watching the match. Otunga tags in and he slams Tarver. Otunga works on the neck and connects with a forearm to the head. Otunga with another forearm to the head and he goes to a chin lock. Tarver with a punch and he tags in Bryan. They lock up and Bryan with European uppercuts followed by a snap mare and kicks to the back. Young tags in and he punches Bryan. Young with an Irish whip but Bryan avoids him and puts Young in a guillotine and turns it in to an omoplata. Young gets to the ropes and forces Bryan to release the hold. Bryan with a cross body to Young while Tarver argues with Gallows on the floor. Bryan is unable to make the tag because his partner is on the floor. Otunga tags in and Bryan sends Otunga into Tarver and Tarver goes to the floor. Bryan misses Otunga coming off the turnbuckles and Otunga with a spinebuster for the three count.
Winners: David Otunga and Darren Young
