In an interview with the Pro Wrestling Torch newsletter, Eric Bischoff said his ideal goal in TNA is to prominently feature one new wrestler every month, so that he can be elevated to the level of some of the more established stars.
“A.J. Styles was our first project,” Bischoff said. “His character has more life and become larger than before.”
Bischoff said this philosophy can help TNA Impact! become a formidable contender against Raw, especially if WWE continues to utilize familiar names at the top of the card.
Bischoff also said he’s had no problems working with Vince Russo.
“It would be a lie if I said there has been anything negative,” Bischoff said. “If I see red and he sees green, we’ve been able to come as close as possible to resolving it every time.”
In terms of whether more changes (like the shift to a four-sided ring) would be made to the TNA product, Bischoff said he is constantly looking to improve TNA’s production value.
“It’s a work in progress,” Bischoff said. “TV is constantly evolving weekly, monthly, yearly.”
