The Smackdown Elimination Chamber is set!
Forgive the briefness of the recap, someone bailed on me and I started this very late.
-Video package from the Rumble.
-Chris Jericho makes his way to the ring. He says tonight was to be his night, he should be here, the 2010 rumble winner, but it was taken away from him along with the main event of WrestleMania. He says he has been working on his return to the main event for 10–months, but Edge stole that in 10-seconds, and Edge doesn’t deserve that. Jericho says he deserved it, and he has been carrying the company and selling out houses all round the US. But now all the fans discuss is Edge’s return, but they fail to remember that Edge is a con-artist. Edge walked out on Jericho, but now, Edge goes to Mania, while Jericho has nothing. Jericho feels that he is too good to qualify for the Elimination Chamber. He wants Teddy to come out and make things right. Jericho walks up the ramp since Long doesn’t come out and goes to his office. Edge is there at Teddy’s desk, and tells Jericho that was the reason he was back, that it was Jericho who lit the fire under him and created this monster. Jericho says that he can slay the beast, but Edge says that Jerichowill regret that he came back. Edge will celebrate by bringing back the Cutting Edge, and have Taker on as a guest.
Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Drew McIntyre Vs. John Morrison Vs. Kane
The three men had a solid match, which had a god bit of crowd heat behind it. They got to go through the commercial break and had a fun finishing segment, where Kane called for the chokeslam on Morrison, Drew hit Kane with the title and then hit the DDT, looking like he had Kane beat. Morrison then hit a sweet running knee to Drew, and then the starship pain on Kane for the win. Morrison actually celebrated like the win meant something, which is what he should do.

Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: R-Truth Vs. Mike Knox
The second qualifier was more of a story telling tool to get R-Truth over, which I am fine with. They put over his wins over Jericho and his Rumble performance. Truth got a missile dropkick and the spinning forearm for the easy victory.

-A video recap from Raw, where Bret Hart returned, and wished he hadn’t.
-EXCLUSIVE FOOTAGE FROM RAW: We get the footage from when Raw went off of the air. John Cena ran down to make the save for Bret Hart and also ran off Batista. Well, ran him off momentarily as Batista would return and beat the hell out of Cena. Cena got tossed into the ringside steps, which were then tossed into the ring, where Batista powerbombed him onto the steps. BIG DAVE SMASH!
-Punk talks with the sXs (Straight Edge Society), and explains to them that without him he is nothing. He preached about the hate in Batista’s heart, and then says that thus far he has protected them, and then asks what they would do for him to protect him. They both said anything, and punk said that they may need to indeed show that tonight. Punk told then to leave so that he could prepare for his match with Batista.
Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Batista vs. CM Punk
Not much of a match again, as this was more about story. Batista wanted nothing to do with this match, so he chilled for a bit in the ring, and then just walked to the back and lost via count out. In one way it devalues the title since he just walked away and showed no want to win it, but also, maybe Vince ORDERED him to walk away. We shall see…
OFFICIAL RESULT: CM Punk @ 1:47via count out
–Matt Hardy and Maria had useless conversation.
Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Matt Hardy vs. Chris Jericho
I really wanted more from this match, not that it was bad, but I felt that they could have really had a kick ass match. Also, Grisham and Striker spent way too much time discussing Edge and Jericho. Hey guys, spend some time discussing the match and make it appear as if Hardy has a chance to win. Yeah, we know he doesn’t. but shit, make it seem like it, it is your job. The finish was good as the crowd got into Matt’s comeback, wanted him to escape the Walls of Jericho, which he did. But Jericho outsmarted him, holding onto the rope, blocking the twist of fate, and hitting the code breaker for the CLEAN win. Jericho needed that as he has been giving out a lot of clean wins. He can afford to do that, but he did need the win here.
OFFICIAL RESULT: Chris Jericho @ 7:00 via pin (**½)
-Mickie came to the ring, discussed being ridiculed since coming to Smackdown, but that she got her revenge at the Rumble and she proved that by being real and being true to oneself are what real champions are made of. Beth Phoenix then came to the ring, put over her accomplishment of being in the Rumble and then told Mickie that she was proud of Mickie for getting her moment in the sun, but then told her not to think for one second that she won’t take the Women’s Title whenever she wants. Vickie Guerrero came out, EXCUSE ME, and declined to give Beth a title shot, but made a tag team match instead.
Michelle McCool and Layla vs. Mickie James and Beth Phoenix
McCool and Layla have hoodies that read “Simply Flawless”, nice touch. This was another short match, which was again more angle than match. The heels were able to get control of Beth for a short time, but she fought back and tagged in Mickie. Mickie controlled, Beth then slapped Mickie and McCool and walked out. McCool tagged in Layla, but Mickie just rolled her up for the win.
OFFICIAL RESULT: Mickie James and Beth Phoenix via pin @ 2:39 {*}
-Cryme Tyme is back to doing WORD UP. The word of the day is King. Let’s move on.
Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Rey Mysterio Vs. Dolph Ziggler
Rey and Ziggler came back together tonight, and had a good match. Ziggler has been devalued over the past few months, and while he had a god showing here, again, with Rey, I doubt it will do him many favors if they are dead set on not pushing him. The finish came out of nowhere as they were having a hot back and forth, featuring Ziggler catching Rey off of a springboard try and slamming him down. Ziggler whipped Rey into the buckle, then gave him a back-breaker, and when he was going to set up for another, Rey got the roll up out of nowhere. Ziggler tried for revenge after the match, but got the 619 for his troubles.
OFFICIAL RESULT: Rey Mysterio via pin @ 10:37 {***}

THE CUTTING EDGE
The Cutting Edge closed the show. Edge said that it was good to be home, and that very ounce of energy and pain was worth it to get back for this moment. He defied all of the odds, doctor’s orders, and said that he had the choice of who to face at Mania. He showed a replay from Raw, where he beat down Sheamus, and Jericho came to the ring. Jericho said he wouldn’t let Edge bask in the glory of his tainted victory. Edge then cut him off and said he was sick and tired of him. This brought out CM Punk and his Straight Edge Society. Punk said they look like two pill-popping junkies arguing over who gets the last fix and that this was all about the Undertaker. He said no one has had more spotlight moments against Taker than himself, reminded Edge that he became the first superstar to make Taker tap out and then talked about his war against he fans. The Undertaker’s DONG hit, Taker appeared, they all brawled, Edge speared Jericho, Taker chokeslammed Punk, and then turned as Edge was setting up to spear him. They stared down and the show ended.
