It was announced today that Kazuchika Okada and Taichi Ishikari, better known as Taichi, will both being going on to North America after the end of this month.
The 29 year old Taichi will be heading to Mexico to compete and train in the CMLL. More than likely this endeavor with Taichi is meant to try and boost him size and skill like Hirooki Goto and others.
As for the 22 year old Kazuchika Okada, NJPW has high hopes for the Young Lion as they plan to send him to train and wrestle for TNA Wrestling. The President of NJPW Sugabayashi has stated that Okada is still young and that the plan is for Okada to stay as long as needed for him to come back to NJPW and become a real contender. So at this time it looks like he may be in TNA for the next 2-3 years.
In other news heading into the Jan. 31st Event, we have a few surprises in the form of Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi teaming up to face Jado and Gedo. This will be Omega’s first time in NJPW, so this will be worth checking out. Personally, I am big Kenny Omega fan and this could be a big sign of the things to come for him.
Also it was announced that Tamon Honda and Kentaro Shiga will be participating for NJPW on Jan. 31st as well. They will be going against the team of Tohgi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma. Honda and Shiga are now considered Freelancers after not extending their contracts with pro wrestling NOAH at the end of last year.
