ProWrestlingDotNet (Jason Powell) reports that there is no backstage indication that Shawn Michaels plans to call it quits in the near future.
While there had been speculation following WrestleMania 25 that Michaels’ career had an expiration date, the latest belief is that there is no imminence in his retirement plans. Michaels is expected, at the minimum, to wrestle for another two or three years.
With a limited schedule that might become even more limited down the road, Michaels has shown an ability to manage his in-ring activity very well. Coupled with the occasional hiatus, nothing about the WWE schedule seems to be bringing retirement to the forefront of his mind.
As Michaels is generally viewed as a career WWE player, ProWrestling.net notes that WWE plans to offer him a significant send-off–possibly bigger than the one afforded Ric Flair–when he does decide to call it quits. With that in mind, his retirement match would likely feature a lengthy main-event build.
