– WWE released several developmental talents over the weekend, including Fletcher Chase (Jason Garrison), Troy Jackman (Ian Richardson) and Aiden Frost (Jason Riggs).
Garrison, from the St. Louis area, was signed in February of this year and had worked in OVW prior to his FCW run John Laurinaitis signed him after seeing his work during an Ohio Valley visit. His Chase ring name was obviously derived from the Chevy Chase films, playing a “book smart” heel in the vein of Lanny Poffo’s The Genius. I was told his mic skills were more advanced than his work in the ring.
Richardson was a former football player who had a great look but was never able to really project a personality.
In the case of Riggs, that would be the second time he was under a developmental deal and then let go, as he released in 2006 and then earned another deal following a FCW camp. His Myspace account currently reads, “I officially retire from sports entertainment” with no further comment.
There are a few other developmental names circulating as also having been released by the company, but we haven’t confirmed them to be accurate yet.
