Dana White said last week he threw buckets of money at Fedor Emelianenko to get the Russian heavyweight in the UFC but refused to agree to a co-promotion with M-1 Global, the organization that controls Fedor’s contract.
Strikeforce, however, had no reservations about co-promotion, announcing Monday that they struck a multi-fight deal with “The Last Emperor.”
Fedor was supposed to fight Josh Barnett this past weekend at Affliction’s “Trilogy” event, but Barnett tested positive for steroids again, and Affliction ended its fight promotion entirely.
The deal bolsters Strikeforce’s profile greatly as they add who many people claim to be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
Will we ever see Fedor fight Brock Lesnar? Not anytime soon, fight fans.
