Night of Champions I believe is the only pay per view where every WWE title is defended. Now the question is how many titles will change hands tonight? I have two title changes, but I have to say the card is making my choices quite hard. Well I have thought long and hard, maybe a little too hard but I’m ready to share my picks with you. I haven’t done well in a long time, and unfortunately I’m not so sure that things are going to improve after tonight, but what the hell here I go.
Randy Orton vs. Triple H vs. John Cena for the WWE Title
Dare I say I have had enough of all three going against each other? Last Monday night Cena mentioned that this match was done at Wrestlemania 24. He went on to make it sound like that match was the match of the night. Well he forgot to say that it was Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels that stole the show, and their triple threat title match was good, but it wasn’t GREAT! So having another go with these three doesn’t exactly excite me. But on the other hand I’m not totally turned off by this as I might sound. I expect all three to put a lot into this match and of course Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase will definitely find a way to get in here and aid Randy Orton. Listen there is no doubt in my mind that Randy is winning, but with that said, I have decided to think outside of the box and pick John Cena for the win. I just feel like being a little naughty here and going against Orton.
Winner: John Cena
CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy for the World Heavyweight Title
CM Punk and Jeff Hardy have absolutely ruled Smackdown. I am going to miss these two together. So do I go with the rumors that Jeff Hardy is leaving or do I ignore everything out there about his probable departure? A part of me feels that Punk is just going to get the better of Hardy again and beat him, but another part of me feels that Jeff has lost too many times to Punk and tonight it’s Hardy that leaves with the title. I’m going to go with Jeff Hardy. I look at it this way, if the rumors are true about him working Summer Slam and then leaving I could see a Hardy win tonight and a Punk win at Summer Slam. And if Hardy isn’t leaving then he can win tonight and hang on to the title for a few months. Well weather I’m right or wrong I do think I will be right about one thing, this is going to be one hell of a match, maybe even the match of the night.
Winner: Jeff Hardy
Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler for the IC Title
Here’s another match that should come off very well tonight. Listen I’m torn here and I’ll tell you why. Ziggler is the guy that needs this win, he’s been on a major roll and I feel that he’s come A LONG LONG way since he first showed up with his, “Hi, I’m Dolph Ziggler” crap. He really has shown me a lot, but you know what? I feel that Rey will win tonight and then rematch at Summer Slam with a Ziggler victory. I think it would make more sense for a Mysterio win and then have Ziggler aiming for Mysterio even more than before. As I said this match should be quite good, and I can’t wait to see it.
Winner: Rey Mysterio
Kofi Kingston vs. Big Show vs. MVP vs. Carlito vs. Jack Swagger vs. The Miz For the United States Champion Title
This set up really surprised me. I figured that this would either be Kingston vs. Big Show or, Kingston vs. Big Show vs. Evan Bourne. Well Bourne is out, but Swagger, MVP, Miz and Carlito are in. Here’s another match that I can see being quite entertaining. This is a tough one for me because I could see Swagger or Show winning, but I think I will go with Kingston because I like him a lot. No seriously I’m staying with Kingston because I like the way he’s handled the title, and I think the belt should be kept on him just a little bit longer.
Winner: Kofi Kingston
Michelle McCool vs. Melina for the Women’s Title
How nice of Vince to put this on the show at the last minute. Well without any build up to get to this point, I have to say Melina will leave empty handed. McCool will win and I’m hoping that these two will have a terrific match, and then maybe McMahon will think twice and put them on the next pay per view with a decent build up.
Winner: Michelle McCool
Tommy Dreamer vs. Christian for the ECW Title
Look out Christian, Dreamer wins again, at least I think so. Last month’s ECW bout at the Bash wasn’t much so it would be nice to see these two take it to the extreme and make this well worth watching. I think just the fact that this is a one on one match instead of a triple threat or fatal 4-way is what will make this a strong showing for the ECW brand.
Winner: Tommy Dreamer
Chris Jericho and A Mystery Partner vs. Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes for the Unified Tag Team Titles
My guess for the mystery partner is Christian, but I would love to se Jericho and Punk team up. Well anyway I figure no matter who the guy turns out to be, Jericho and Mr. Mystery Man will win. My thinking is Jericho comes off like he’s a genius and remember he knew sooner or later Edge was going to go out with an injury so I would think that the brainiac would know just the right guy to pick. Look for this one to be another very good match.
Winner: Jericho and his mystery partner
Maryse vs. Mickie James for the Diva’s Title
Here’s a women’s match that I really want to see. Maryse is an awesome heel and I’m so glad that Mickie is back in the title picture. I don’t see a Mickie win tonight, but what I do see is a really good match. I have to hand it to Vince and the creative team for doing nothing beneficial for these ladies on the last Raw before the pay per view. But you just watch these two work their cute little asses off.
Winner: Maryse
Wow if I get at least three right I will be happy, but more shocked. This is one unpredictable show and yes I already ordered it. On paper this looks pretty damn good, so let’s hope on TV it comes off even better. Thank you all for sending me your picks and please keep them coming. Again I will do my best to get a Raw/NOC column out this week, but it’s still hectic here, plus last week my husband had a medical issue, but thank God he’s doing better. So I will try very hard to tell you about my thoughts on Shaquille’s Raw. Trust me you would not have wanted to read my thoughts on last week’s ZZ Top Raw, oh no you wouldn’t have.
