As reported earlier, World Wrestling Entertainment sent out a casting call last week looking for a new female ring announcer who can sing the National anthem.
“WWE is looking for a young, attractive female (open to all ethnicities) to sing the anthem and be our regular ring announcer every week, for one of our most popular TV shows,” WWE said in the casting call.
Lilian Garcia typically performs the National Anthem before WWE live events and handles the ring announcing duties on Monday Night Raw. She’s made errors on television in recent few weeks, prompting speculation that WWE is looking to replace her.
To put her many fans at ease, she is in no danger of being replaced nor is she considering leaving the company or scaling back her duties. Rather, the company is simply looking for another announcer to handle WWE Superstars and be used in a back-up role.
Besides Garcia, Justin Roberts and Tony Chimel, WWE has no other ring announcers in reserve. While it would appear the person who lands the job is in line to replace Garcia, that is not necessarily the case as they’re solely interested in pretty females who can sing rather than males.
