The following was posted on WWE.com earlier today, although it was well-hidden, nowhere to be found except for the “Industry News” section:
Mr. Kennedy Released
World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of Raw Superstar Mr. Kennedy (Ken Kennedy) as of today, May 29, 2009. WWE wishes Ken the best in all future endeavors.
As far as why WWE released Kennedy, there is no clear reason as of yet. After building up his return with some vignettes on RAW recently, the company inserted him in the big 5-on-5 main event this past Monday night. However, trouble came out of that. There was a spot during the match where Mr. Kennedy ended up dropping Randy Orton on his bad shoulder, and Orton was visibly mad on TV, rolling out of the ring and yelling in frustration. We’ve gotten word that Orton confronted Kennedy backstage after the match, and gave him a polite verbal beating, holding himself back and not yelling yet still making a point that the Wisconsin native needs to be more careful in the ring.
Further, Kennedy, who’s more prone to injury than any other wrestler alive perhaps, ended up hurting his wrist in his first match back. While it wasn’t believed to be anything serious, it didn’t help his case.
We’ll have more as it becomes available.
