WWE Monday Night RAW Report
April 27th, 2009
– Tonight’s WWE RAW kicks off with Lilian Garcia in the ring. She introduces the General Manager of RAW, Vickie Guerrero, who is also in the ring. Vickie says she is so proud of her husband Edge after winning the World Heavyweight Title from John Cena last night. Vickie says however, as the RAW GM, she is introducing the new WWE Champion – Randy Orton. Voices starts playing and Randy Orton makes his way to the ring with Legacy by his side to kick off tonight’s RAW.
Rhodes and DiBiase stand by in the ring as Orton poses with his WWE Title belt to the crowd. The music finally stops after a few minutes and the crowd boo’s Orton and he just stares at them. Orton says the McMahon family is mourning tonight, all of them, because their last hope and protector, their Champion has fallen. Orton talks about beating Triple H last night after 5 long years. Orton says he didn’t just pin him, he beat him. Orton says he put Triple H out with the punt kick just like he said he was going to do. Orton says the fans watching tonight are all the same and in the end we will all amount to nothing. More heat from the crowd.
Orton says he is a success as he has destroyed the entire McMahon family. We look to a video on the big screen of Orton taking out Vince, Shane, Stephanie and then Triple H at Backlash last night. The video ends and Orton climbs the turnbuckle with his WWE Title as the crowd gives him hell. Vickie takes the mic and says she is excited that Randy Orton is on her show as the WWE Champion. She is happy to announce he will have his first Title defense in three weeks at Judgment Day. His opponent will be the winner of a Big Show vs. Batista match later tonight on RAW. Vickie congratulates Orton but he doesn’t look too happy. He tells the fans he is their everything. He says Vickie may be the GM, but everyone in the locker room answers to him. If he doesn’t get the respect he deserves, they will all end up like Triple H. MVP’s music hits and out comes the WWE United States Champion.
MVP comes out to the stage and introduces himself to Orton. He says what Orton has done is impressive. MVP says take notice, he is the United States Champion and he doesn’t answer to anybody. Ted DiBiase takes the mic as the crowd chants MVP’s name. Ted tells MVP he doesn’t seem too bright. Ted says unless he wants his first night on RAW to be the worse in his life, he should turn around and leave on his own while he can. MVP tells Ted to step back and calls him a lackey. MVP says he doesn’t have a couple of Abercrombie models to do his talking for him, and tells Orton this isn’t a dictatorship and isn’t the Randy Orton show. MVP says he and the fans didn’t come here to be talked down to. MVP tells Orton that is Batista or Big Show don’t beat Orton at Judgment Day, then he has no problem stepping up and handling that himself. Cody takes the mic and asks Orton if they can make an example out of MVP. Orton whispers something to Vickie. Vickie announces that tonight it will be the United States Champion MVP vs. the WWE Champion Randy Orton on tonight’s show. Voices plays as MVP mocks Legacy from the stage. We go to commercial.
Back from the break and Lawler and Cole plug how the WWE Draft changes are already shaking things up. They say the Draft takes effect tonight and go over the new Superstars on the RAW brand.
The Brian Kendrick vs. Kofi Kingston
Lilian introduces Kendrick as the music hits, calling him Brian Kendrick. He comes out pissed off and tells her to get it right, it’s The Brian Kendrick. His opponent Kofi Kingston is out next to a nice pop.
The match starts and they go at it. Kendrick slaps Kofi but tries to run away from him. Kendrick ends up on the apron and comes off the top rope with a missile dropkick on Kofi for a 2 count. Kendrick applies a submission hold on Kofi now. Kofi fights to his feet and takes Kendrick down and hits a big standing kick. Kofi flies through the air with the forearm and hits the double leg drop. 2 count by Kofi. Kendrick counters Kofi and nails a dropkick for a 2 count. Kendrick with a crossbody for a 2 count. Kofi hits Kendrick with the kick to get the pinfall and the win.
Winner: Kofi Kingston
Cole and Lawler show a replay of John Cena going through the search light last night and say they don’t know his condition and how long he may be out.
– Big Show is backstage looking worried as Vickie walks in. She thanks him for last night and says she knows he did it for himself. He thanks her for putting him in the match tonight. He tries to kiss her and she moves. He says is this is what it is now? He tells her it’s going to get lonely on Mondays. She says from here on out everything is professional between them. Show says she’s the boss and walks off. We go to commercial.
Santina Marella, Kelly Kelly, Brie Bella and Mickie James vs. Maryse, Beth Phoenix, Rosa Mendez and Jillian Hall
We get a replay of the Khali segment with Santina Marella at Backlash. Out for the next match first is Santina followed by Kelly Kelly, Brie Bella and Mickie James who gets the biggest pop. Their opponents all come out at once to the theme song of WWE Divas Champion Maryse. Beth stares down Santina in disgust as Maryse poses.
Beth and Santina start the match. Beth smacks him and he screams. Brie is tagged in. Beth slams her down and mounts her with right hands. Beth tags in Jillian and she comes in but misses a leg drop on Brie. Brie rolls under the ring and Rosa goes after her. Both Bella Twins appear under the ring and smile. Hornswoggle appears between them and gets a kiss. Hornswoggle chases Rosa around before going back under the ring. Beth and Maryse look for him and get sprayed with a fire extinguisher. Santina is tagged in and rolls up Jillian from behind for the pinfall and the win.
Winners: Kelly, Brie, Mickie and Santina
– After the match, Santina celebrates on the apron. Hornswoggle gets a long peek up Santina’s skirt and is amazed. Hornswoggle falls back to the floor before getting up and running up the ramp. We go back to commercial.
Matt Hardy vs. Goldust
Back from the break and Lawler and Cole talk about the Draft some more. Matt Hardy makes his way to the ring with a cast on his arm. We cut to stills from the I Quit Match last night. Matt takes the mic and says last night Jeff proved he is a heartless barbarian and as a result of that, he has a broken hand. The crowd gives him hell as he says he did not quit and is not a quitter. He says he has never quit anything in his life. He says after Jeff broke his hand, he had no choice and has no option tonight – he is being forced to wrestle. He tells everyone he is wrestling under protest tonight. Out comes his opponent Goldust.
The bell rings and Goldust backs Hardy into the corner as he looks for sympathy. Hardy goes for the ropes again and Goldust taunts him. Goldust is still trying to lock up with Hardy but he goes to the floor. The ref argues with Goldust and Hardy runs back in the ring, nails Goldust in the back of the head with the cast to get the cheap win.
Winner: Matt Hardy
We see Randy Orton heading to the ring as we go back to commercial.
Randy Orton vs. MVP
Back from the break and the WWE Champion Randy Orton makes his way to the ring by himself. Or ton poses in the ring as the WWE United States Champion MVP makes his entrance. Orton stares down MVP as he gets ready.
They lock up and Orton takes MVP to the corner. They lock up again and Orton applies a side headlock. MVP counters and they go back and forth. Orton takes MVP down to the mat with a face lock. MVP counters that and more back and forth tie ups. Orton with a takedown and a 2 count. Back on their feet and more tie ups, takedowns and counters. Arm bar now by MVP. Orton with a knee to the gut and he beats MVP to the mat. Orton kicks MVP now and is in control.
MVP fights back with right hands and knees. MVP drops a big knee for a 2 count. Orton kicks MVP in the gut and throws him face first into the corner. An uppercut from Orton rocks MVP and another. MVP ends up knocking Orton to the floor as we go back to commercial.
Back from the break and Orto has MVP in a headlock in the ring. During the break, Orton came back and hit his trademark DDT off the ropes. Orton keeps the headlock applied on MVP now. MVP fights out of it but gets caught in a back breaker by Orton and a close 2 count. Orton puts the side headlock back on. MVP fights out again and drops Orton with a back drop. They trade shots in the center of the ring now. MVP kicks Orton but runs into an elbow. Orton charges MVP but gets tossed through the air. MVP runs into an Orton kick but hits the knee to the jaw on Orton. MVP hits his Ballin’ elbow drop for a close 2 count on Orton.
MVP misses the kick in the corner and gets his leg caught on the top rope. Orton dumps him over the top and to the floor. Shane McMahon rushes the ring through the crowd with a kendo stick. Shane beats Orton down with the stick. Shane climbs the top turnbuckle and lands a big elbow on Orton. Cody and Ted run down with chairs but Shane is already rushing back out through the crowd. Orton is down in the ring as Cody and Ted check on him. Shane stands up on the railing near the luxury boxes and points at Legacy in the ring as his music plays. The crowd is all into it. Shane stares down Orton as we go back to commercial.
Winner: No Contest
Back from commercial and Cole talks more about John Cena and shows stills from the match last night. Lawler and Cole talk more about the new Superstars on RAW from the Draft.
The Miz Issues a Challenge
The Miz makes his way to the ring for the next match. Miz enters the ring and takes the mic, calling himself the most valuable draft pick in WWE. He calls himself a television icon and mentions his stint on MTV. He talks about what he’s done in WWE and tells people to Google his name. He talks about knowing celebrities and puts down the fans. Miz says he is here to make an impact and issues a challenge to John Cena. The crowd pops for it. Miz calls for a referee and out comes Charles Robinson. Miz calls out Cena and tells him to step up to the plate. Cena’s music hits and the crowd goes nuts.
The music plays and Cena doesn’t come out. Miz mocks him in the ring, saying he’s scared. Miz mocks Cena’s catchphrases. Miz says you’re right, I can’t see you because your movies aren’t in theaters long enough. Miz says he is tired of seeing the same Superstars in the main events all the time and says he is here to step up and grab the brass ring. He says tonight, he challenged John Cena and he declined. Miz calls himself the winner by forfeit. Miz tells Lilian to stand up and make it official, announce him the winner by forfeit. Lilian won’t and Miz goes to ringside to get in her face. He grabs her mic and announces himself as the winner by forfeit. Miz talks some smack before heading to the back to end a bad segment.
Jamie Noble and Chavo Guerrero vs. Primo and Carlito
Jamie Noble and Chavo Guerrero await their opponents in the ring as the Unified Tag Champions The Colons make their way to the ring. Chavo and Carlito start it out first and go back and forth. Carlito takes control and tags in Primo for some double teaming. Jamie comes in and gets dropkicked out of the ring. The Champs clear the ring.
Primo gets dropped on the floor and Noble kicks him behind the ref’s back. Chavo tags in Noble and he goes to work on Primo in the ring now with a submission hold. Noble goes for a back drop and Primo counters it for a 2 count. Chavo comes back in for some double teaming and a 2 count. Chavo comes off the top and Primo dropkicks him in mid-air. Noble and Carlito are tagged in at the same time. Carlito with big shots and a big back drop. Carlito with a sit down powerbomb and a 2 count.
Carlito ends up hitting a nice plancha off the ropes in the corner but only gets a 2 count because Chavo stops the pin. Primo leaps through the ropes on Chavo on the floor. Carlito catches Noble with the Backstabber for the pinfall and the win.
Winners: The Colons
– Josh Matthews is backstage with Batista and asks him if he feels responsible for Triple H losing last night. Batista tells Triple H he feels for him and knows it’s a matter of time before he comes back. Batista says he will beat Big Show tonight, become #1 contender and then hurt Orton like he hurt Triple H and his family and then take away the WWE Championship. We go to commercial.
Back from commercial and Lilian introduces Vickie Guerrero, who is on the stage. She has an announcement but wants to remind us of “recent current events” first and plays a video. The video shows Orton punt kicking Vince and Shane then taking out Stephanie and Triple H, basically the same video from earlier. Vickie says the result of all these events, next week’s main event will be Randy Orton vs. Shane McMahon.
Big Show vs. Batista
Vickie stands on the entrance way as Big Show’s music hits and out he comes for this match to determine the #1 contender. We go to commercial.
Back from the break and Show is getting ready in the ring. Batista’s music hits and out he comes to a big pop. They lock up to start the match and push each other back. Another lock up and Show takes it to the corner. Batista tries to lift Batista from behind but can’t. They lock up and Batista rocks Show with shots. Show grabs him for a chokeslam but he slides out of it. Batista goes for a Batista Bomb but Show shoves him off. Slow start here. They stare each other down as we go to commercial.
Back from the break and Show is scoring a 2 count on Batista. Big chops in the corner now by Show. Show wears Batista down with body shots now and a big fist to the gut off the ropes. Batista fights back and spears Show into the corner and goes for shoulder thrusts. Show knocks Batista to the mat and steps on him. Show goes to the floor and bends Batista’s body into the ring post. Back in the ring now and Show continues to work Batista over and scoop slams him down. Show with a submission hold now.
Show continues the beat down and locks on a bear hug now. Batista fights out and breaks the hold. Not much going on in this match here. Show runs into two boots from Batista. Batista comes off the second rope but Show catches him. Batista staggers Show with a few clotheslines and spinebusters him. Batista waits for Show to get up and Show does, grabs him for a chokeslam and drops Batista on the mat. Batista rolls out to the floor.
John Cena comes to the entrance way and doesn’t look sane. A referee is holding him back. Show walks slowly up the ramp but turns around when he realizes he is being counted out. Show doesn’t make it back in time and Batista wins by countout. Cena just stands there looking crazy, staring at Show. Show turns around to a big spear from Batista.
Winner and New #1 Contender: Batista
– After the match, Batista heads to the back as Cena just stares at Show from the stage with a serious look in his face. Show yells back and tells Cena he can’t hide. RAW goes off the air with Show going nuts in the ring and Cena smirking at him from the stage.
