— In addition to WWE asking Ric Flair to make a full-time return and take on the role as the new General Manager of Smackdown, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE also talked about giving Dusty Rhodes the role as Stephanie McMahon spoke with him about the possibility. They ended up going with the decision to have Teddy Long return to his previous role as GM of Smackdown, have his assistant Tiffany take over as the interim GM of ECW and move Vickie Guerrero over to Raw as the new GM of that brand. The belief is that Rhodes may not have been interested in taking on the role as one of the reasons he got off the writing team was because he didn’t like to travel at his age and size and preferred to work out of Tampa with developmental talent instead at Florida Championship Wrestling.
— In preparation for his heel turn on brother Jeff in WWE, Matt Hardy stated recently in an interview with The Miami Herald that he had to call his dad ahead of time to warn him about the angle they did leading into WrestleMania 25 where Matt implied he set fire to Jeff’s trailer that killed his dog. Matt told his father that he was going to be really stiff on the promo and his dad, whose been watching wrestling pretty much his whole life, said it would be no problem and understood. However, after seeing the direction of the angle, when Matt called him and asked if he saw the promo, he said, “I almost wished I didn’t even watch that sh*t”, but added he should have known better. Matt said his father’s reaction initially put him in a bad mood, but his dad later told him he was okay with the storyline. Matt said that Jeff really liked the angle because it made his now deceased dog into almost like a celebrity dog.
— A few weeks back when pictures of Kelly Kelly and Chris Jericho were leaked online at a night club having a good time, critics were quick to question whether or not Jericho was now dating Kelly. They also questioned whether or not Jericho and his wife were on good terms or not.
