Site reader JQWosh Baker sent the following live report from Houston, Texas:
There were some fans that complained that the bigger names were not doing signings. Rey and Cena both did a question and answer period (Cena’s was probably about 30 minutes, I got there at the end of Rey’s) in the ring that is set up. The Q&A’s were mainly from cards that were filled out from the crowd, but ended with a few audience members getting to ask their questions. Cena was asked what Legend he would like to team up with and what Legend he would like to face and answered Stone Cold to both of those. The question may have technically been which Hall of Famer. He was also asked what historic match would he like to be involved with and said he would love to take Hogan’s place against Andre at Wrestlemania. He was asked about his past comments on the Rock and said that he understood the Rock was busy, but if the Rock, or Dwayne, or whatever he wants to be called now wanted to say anthing about Cena’s past comments, then Cena would be easy to find every Monday night in the center of the ring.
Signings were limited to a certain number of people. You had to get tickets for each signing table (two wrestlers at each table) and then wait in line for each area. The wrestlers seemed to be there for the full 2 hour period and all appeared to be very friendly towards fans and if the size of the line allowed were posing for pictures as well. There was also an area set up with a Diva to take pictures with that switched every two hours. There were also individuals walking around taking pictures and signing. I saw a number of announcers including Michael Cole, JR and King as well as Joey Styles and Norman Smiley wandering around on their way to and from different activities. The announcers were usually stationed at the Call a Match event and were your broadcast partner for your match.
At the end of the night there was a match of Jimmy Wang Yang vs Paul Burchill with Katie Lea in his corner. It was a pretty entertaining match with Jimmy Wang Yang picking up the win. The highlight is that the closest signing table to the ring had Jesse and Festus. As the match started, Festus heard the bell and switched from talking to fans and signing to rampage mode and ran towards the ring. Jesse ran after to try to stop him. They rang the bell again and he went back to normal and went to sign autographs. At the end of the match, Festus ran back out and they started a sequence where Jimmy Wang Yang, Paul Burchill and the announcer/time keepers kept ringing the bell to switch Festus back and forth between his two personalities. Finally ended when Jimmy Yang Wang got him to attack Paul Burchill in the ring leading to a beatdown on Paul. After a couple minutes, they rang the bell again, Paul wandered to the back (Katie had run away during the earlier attack by Festus) and Jesse and Jimmy signed a few autographs for fans around the ring. Jesse then led Festus back to their signing table.
