For those who didn’t see it, this year’s Royal Rumble surprise entrant was Rob Van Dam, who got a pretty big pop from the crowd in Detroit. The word we’re getting is that RVD came back for the Rumble only in a one-night appearance type of deal, similar to his surprise appearance at the RAW 15th Anniversary Show.
While WWE has kept the door open for RVD and has told him he’s welcomed back whenever he wants to return, he still has a lot on his plate as his wife’s battling cancer. WWE approached Van Dam about appearing at the Rumble on Friday, which explains why he was really rusty and a bit out of shape, since he had no proper time to prepare for his appearance.
