Following a crazy 24 hour period this week that seen Jon Fitch get released from his UFC contract for not signing a contract that would have given the UFC exclusive life time rights to Fitch for any video they release, the number two ranked welterweight in the world is now back in the UFC.
It appears the reasoning behind not signing the contract had more to do with the way Dana White approached Fitch than the life time rights portion of the deal.
Following a discussion with Lorenzo Fertitta, things appears to be smooth over and Fitch will fight Akihiro Gono at UFC 94
“Communication kind of broke down with Dana (White) so we talked with Lorenzo. (I) just got off the phone with him and we came to an agreement. We’re going to move ahead and I’ll be back in the UFC. We’re going to sign off on the video game and I’m back. It was never even about the agreement or the contract. It was the approach that we felt Dana was being a little bit hot-headed and was threatening us right off the bat. It didn’t seem like a professional way of doing things.”
