Smackdown Starts
Show starts with Vickie and Chavo in the ring, MAD HEAT. can hardly hear her at all. Best Heat of the night. After a bit out comes Big Show. Big show cuts a promo about how he dominated Undertaker at No Mercy. we see footage of No Mercy. Big show announces tonight, he will be fighting for the Belt…
Out comes Kozlov. He looks downright small compared to the Show. He gets in the ring and spouts some Russian, he wants whoever wins tonight’s main event. Big Show says that these people here may have heat with him, but at least he’s an American. Kozlov backs out of the ring and stares down Show and Vickie from the ramp before leaving.
Brie Bella v. Natalya (w. Victoria)
Brie got a good pop. Everyone around me seemed to know she was a twin. And her gimmick is sold out. I heard several calls for a Sharpshooter from Natalya during the match.
Brie started fast, and got a near fall two count that Nattie bridged out of impressively, then another near fall two count. Nattie works Brie out of the ring and she moves to get underneath, Victoria chases her under, but comes up with Hornswoggle instead, as the twin crawls out the other side. Brie comes in and puts on some ‘fresh’ offense and gets the pin 1, 2, 3.
W: Brie Bella
*Cut to Funaki and R-Truth backstage. Funaki reveals his full name to be Kung Fu Naki, Truth makes a great play of Kung-Fu Fighting.
HHH and Hardy in locker room. Trips is texting his vote for special guest referee at Cyber Sunday. Hardy plays his face challenger role well.
Ron Killings v. Shelton Benjamin
R-Truth pops the Local crowd as he enters from the top of the floor section one closer than me…/sigh. What’s Up went pretty well
Shelton gives his usual lil speech on Gold and comes out. Hes first on Offense and eventually throws Truth out of the ring. Shelton follow him out, and puts a few licks on him outside. Truth gets back in and finally musters some O, Shelton counters an Irish whip and Rolls up Truth for a two count. Shelton applies a Chin Lock and keeps Truth on the ground. Truth eventually works this into a belly to back, lands some big fists, throws Shelton, Corkscrew Cross Body, Shelton recovers, turns it around quicky for a two count, Truth counters, and gets the Roll up 1, 2, 3
W: R-Truth
Jeff Hardy v. MVP
Jeff Hardy gets a very good pop. MVP comes out to what would be at best, moderate heat. Plenty of MVP fans amongst my section at least, but it was Jeff Hardy, so…
Match starts, MVP has 3 pin attempts in the first 30 seconds, 1, 2, 2. Hardy with a nice cross body, goes out and climbs the ropes, but MVP calls a Time Out as he rolls out of the ring. Takes his time getting back in, as Hardy waits. Hardy on Offense, but as he goes for his High Double foot stomp in the corner, MVP counters and gets a two count. MVP with Knees, big Slam, jumping Knee, 2 count again.
MVP keeps Hardy grounded with an abdominal stretch, really driving him down into the mat. Hardy breaks out, goes to the ropes, but is countered, MVP with a two count. keeps Hardy grounded somea tight waist lock, with some really good looking leverage. Hardy gets pumped from the crowd, but MVP drops him and gets a 2. Waist lock again, Hardy gets another crowd push, counters and moves for a Whisper in the Wind, and gets a two count on MVP. Hardy with a nice drop kick into the corner, and he connects with the double foot stomp this time. He goes out, climbs the ropes, and pops the crowd with a Swanton to finish MVP.
W: Jeff Hardy
Kozlov comes out for Hardy. Hardy lays into him and after dazing him, goes up for another Whisper in the Wind, Kozlov head butts him into the ropes, devastating him. Kozlov gets major heat for this, USA chants begin…more on that later.
We’re shown a HHH promo
We get a promo for Kazarney (sp?) new wrestler with some kind of a sideshow/Carny gimmick it looks like.
Maria is announced as special ring announcer for the next match.
8-Man Tag Match
Jesse/Festus/Primo/Carlito v. Ryder/Hawkins/Kenny Dykstra/Ryan Braddock
Crowd was pretty quiet for this match
Bell rings and Festus scares all the heels out of the ring, Carlito decides to start the match instead and he gets beat down by all 4 members in turn for his efforts. After they’ve passed Carlito around, he finally gets to tag in Festus, who gets his shot at Kenny. things get active as everyone gets involved, eventually Jesse and Primo dive through the ropes on Ryder and Hawkins (i think) while Festus gets the pin on Kenny 1, 2, 3. As the victors make their way out, Carlito watches at the top of the ramp as Maria passes him, its like there should be a bubble over his head, “That was Cool.”.
W: Jesse/Festus/Primo/Carlito
3 on 1 Handicap Match
Great Khali v. Jobbers (Aaron Bolo, Nelson Creed, Scotty Mac) ?(that’s what i heard)
Funny, Khali gets very little heat here, my roommate went to the bathroom here, mostly in disgust of Khali still being around. Bell rings, Khali raises his fists, bellows, and 2 of the wrestlers back out of the ring. the third is left to take a giant hand to the head, and gets pinned under a giant boot.
W: Khali
Khali expains through his interpreter that he’s doing the kiss cam again and looking for a willing participant. The ‘winner’ shall we say isn’t exactly another Lillian Garcia, she’s a a healthy local gal. After she gets the kiss Tazz gets in the ring to interview her after Khali leaves. She’s not leaving her husband for him she says…
*Kozlov cuts a promo calling out Jeff Hardy for next week
HHH comes out to the biggest pop of the night. Big Show comes out to a quiet reception
WWE Championship Match
Triple H v. Big Show
Match starts and Show throws HHH over the top fairly quickly. he goes out, they trade blows outside the ring. Show gets back in and lays a big head butt on Trips to keep him from getting in. After Triple H does get back in, Show lays him out with a Sidewalk Slam. The HHH chant hits full stride. Show with more O, throws HHH to the ropes, and puts him up with a tall delayed slam. he drops some elbows for good measure and goes for the cover and gets 2.
Show holds HHH down with a head vice, HHH feeds off the crowd and starts to Hulk up, but NO, Show gets it tighter. HHH Hulks up again, and this time he gets a head butt to the back of the skull for his efforts. Big show steps over him and drops the leg, and gets a two count. HHH crawls to the corner, Show for a big splash, but misses. Trips gives him a big boot, and climbs on his back to apply a sleeper. He holds this for quite a while, i gotta think commercial here.
Shw still is on his feet and eventually flips Trips over his head. HHH lands blows on Show, and looks to go for the Pedigree, but Show counters into some kind of modified side suplex. HHH keeps the offense up though and continues to take it to the Big Show. Big Show counters eventually and just as hes about to lay into HHH, the lights go out.
Undertaker appears in the middle of the ring. and proceeds to lay it to Big Show, crowd goes wild for Taker. Show Bails from the ring, up the ramp, lights go out again, and Taker is behind him on the ramp when they come up, and more fisticuffs from these two. A third time the lights go out, and we see them working around the stage to the back, still Show covering up from takers blows.
Meanwhile, Kozlov has appeared at the top of the ramp, and is coming down for HHH, who is still laid out. Kozlov proceeds to take it to HHH, until Jeff Hardy comes out for the save, but Not to be, as Hardy is quickly taken out by Kozlov as well. HHH and Hardy get up together and between the 2 of them they force Kozlov from the ring. Kozlov is really hearing the USA chants, loudest its been since Vickie was out. After Kozlov turns up the ramp, Hardy pulls a Twist of Fate on Trips, celebrates, and leaves Triple H in the ring.
W: No Contest?
Afterwards Trips entertains the crowd for another 15 minutes, bringing up our kiss cam ‘volunteer’ from earlier, and after some decision about the caliber of women he kisses, he passes her off to JR, who does a great strip tease for us…
