In the words of Dr. Nick Riviera of The Simpsons, “Hi, everybody!” I am back this week with my reactions and thoughts on a Smackdown that had its ups and downs. I was unable to get out my RAW reaction…again, I’m sorry. Let’s just say that I was so off with my Unforgiven Predictions, I needed some time off to clear my head and get all that gunk out. So without further ado let’s get this party started.
I’m going to actually start off with The Big Show and Vickie. Now while I did not think that this angle was going to go this way a couple weeks back, I did see this one coming as soon as Undertaker entered the ring at Unforgiven. I will say that I love Big Show when he is a face simpily because the guy always looks like he is enjoying himself, you know smiling and waving. But as far as what’s best for him career-wise. It’s being a heel. I mean all of his major title reigns come as a heel for a reason. It fits his persona more, being this big, massive giant. So this move is a good one and being associated with Vickie right now will deffinately bring the full amount of heat and let’s face it when he’s a heel, he is flat out nasty. So last night I felt like this was a good job on the mic for The Big Show. He didn’t give us the typical “you guys don’t appreciate me” or “I am better then all of you”. Instead he goes along the lines of this attitude change is strictly business.
It’s deffinately a great thing to see Carlito back in the ring after a few weeks hiatius. He teamed up with his brother Primo Colon and face the tag team champs, Curt Hawkins and Zach Ryder. Some of you may remember a couple weeks back when I showed my frustration on how the WWE treated Carlito, and I thought that we were eventually going to see Carlito’s departure, but we got to see him wrassle for at least one more time. He looked like himself in the ring, a little rust, but the main thing that irritated me a little was that for most of the match it was Carlito being handled and trying to tag in his brother. This was his first match in a while, you got to have the anticipation build around him not Primo. To Primo’s credit, he did look good in the ring, very explosive. Overall a pretty good match, and I’m glad to see Carribean Cool back.
R-Truth had his third match, this time with his previous opponent’s partner in crime, Chavo Guerrero. However, this dynamic duo faced some troubles. First let me say that R-Truth’s entrance does not bother me anymore. I had a couple people telling me that they’re confused on where I stand with this guy, and believe me I’m all for him. It’s great to see when he makes his way through the crowd because let’s face it, people love it when the guys on TV are two feet away. The larger part of this match was the altercation between Chavo and Big Bam Neely. They look to be sending Bam Bam off on his own and I say, why not? What harm could come out of this? The worse that happens is that he turns into Snitsky….well nevermind that would be kind of bad actually. Point is, let’s see what this guy is really about. If he turns into another Snitsky, then so be it. There still is that chance that he becomes something that betters this company though.
A couple of other things that happened that I really don’t have to much to say about are first, the diva’s 6 lady match. The reason I don’t have much to say is because I have already said all I could about this Brie Bella. Their gimmick stinks, they can’t wrestle, the end. As far as this Jesse & Festus, moving men thing. I don’t know, don’t ask. What can you make out of this so far.
Finally we get to the main event of the night, a Fatal-Four-Way between Jeff Hardy, MVP, Shelton Benjamin, and THE Brian Kendrick with the winner going to No Mercy to face The Game for the WWE Championship. I liked all of HHH’s segments with each of the four men backstage. I don’t know if anyone else noticed or even found this funny, but I thought it was when a fly was just sitting on top of MVP’s head backstage as he is trying to make his point how he is the real deal on Smackdown. I did think from the beginning that Jeff was going to win this one. Just because he started the show off with Triple H and had a tense little chat. If he were not to win that match, this whole talk would’ve been pointless. After the match Kozlov came down to the ring and all I can say is finally. Now, I am not a Kozlov fan really, but I am tired of every week hearing this guy say he wants more competition. Why would WWE keep making him say the same lines week after week but still not even increase the challenge a little bit. I mean come on Goldman and Funaki? I’m not even sure if that is a step up from Stevie Richards but he still got the boot. So now that he has poked his big head into this rivalry, maybe, just maybe, we will see something worth watching with Kozlov. I am interested to see what happens both on RAW and next weeks Smackdown. Go Randy!
