As many of our readers know, WWE.com updates its readers on all wrestlers that part ways with the company. Over the years, the farewell message posted on their website has been a great indicator of the terms on which the two sides end their professional relationship.
Today, WWE.com announced that Mick Foley “allowed his contract with WWE to expire.” That’s a new one. Then they cut into their “sever ties” routine. In general, they say they’ve “cut ties” with someone when the two sides end their relationship on a bad note, while they wish their former independent contractor “good luck in his/her future endeavors” if the break-up was on good terms. Although Foley will probably end up in WWE again some day, they chose the “sever ties” way. You really have to see this statement and how Foley is treated in order to understand why Mick has been unhappy here and what’s wrong with the perception of some in the company. We should also point out that the word business was spelled wrong, and WWE.com still hasn’t corrected it. Here is the statement:
Three-time WWE Champion Mick Foley allowed his contract with WWE to expire on August 31, 2008. WWE and Foley have mutually agreed to sever businees ties at this time as the former SmackDown announcer pursues other opportunities.
