Both presented themselves very well – Glib and articulate. Mike and Mike treated them seriously and promoted the fight well. Absent were any dated references to “human cockfighting” etc.
Golic mentioned that both were collegiate wrestlers that made the transition to MMA. Greeny (playing his role as the wimp) commented on Randy’s cauliflower ear. Randy said it hurt at the time, but like all other MMA injuries, it went away. Brock described his career path from wrestler to WWE to Vikings to MMA. Regarding football, he said wasn’t going to be old in a wheel chair and have any regrets about not trying to make it.
Randy talked about MMA being a natural transition for wrestlers. That he learned he needed to train in Ju – Jitsu and others to be more competitive.
When asked about the brutality of the sport, Randy gave an excellent response likening it more to “kinetic chess” a match of skills and wits.
Randy talked about how MMA was like a fraternity and, like wrestling, you learn to fight your friends.
Greeny promoted an MMA themed show on ESPN (one of the key reasons why this interview probably happened).
Again, both came off very well. Excellent segment.
