As announced on Monday Night RAW tonight, John Cena suffered a herniated disk. While on RAW they said this took place during his SummerSlam match with Batista, the exact timing is unknown at this time, as we haven’t been able to confirm if this was done for storyline purposes.
Cena lost feeling in his arm in the last few days, and in a WWE.com interview he said he was losing about 20% of his strength with any other day. An MRI proved that his worst fear was coming true, and he did have a bulged disk.
John Cena will be heading to Texas where he’ll be looked at by Dr. Lloyd Youngblood. He will also be examined by a neurosurgeon – Dr. Joseph Maroon at the University of Pittsburgh. The believe is that he will need a fusion surgery, which would take him out of action for at least one year. Steve Austin and Chris Benoit are former WWE Superstars who have gone through this treatment.
This is definitely bad news for Cena, and we wish him the best, as it seems the injury is pretty severe. We’ll keep you updated.
