Big Phil’s Ramblings- Jamaican Me Crazy!
Well, it’s so good to be back after so long away! It’s been so hard to get right back in the swing of things. So, a first few random thoughts, before I dive straight into my raw review. Warning though, it’s going to be fairly disjointed.
First of all, for the first time, I am spending some of my hard earned money on a WWE PPV. Not the full price of course, I’ve organized a summerslam sleepover to spread the cost. But yeah, I’m not so sure now if it was a good idea. DAMN YOU KHALI!!!!! But hey, I can’t WAIT for Hell In A Cell. I’ll be doing a predictions column for this one methinks.
Well, let’s go on with the raw review!
Ok, well, let’s face up to something. Cena was never going to be a baby face here in this opening segment, not in Batsita’s home town, and certainly not after last week. I wasn’t really sure about this segment, I still can’t decide how I thought it came off to be honest. I’ll have to watch it again. What I can say is that I’m nowhere near as anti-Cena now he’s out of the title hunt.
Anyone else forget the existence of the Shane’O’Shuffle?
NOOOOOO!!! Why did Kelly Kelly (who dances like jelly jelly) have to move to Raw before I got to see her at Smackdown/Ecw? NOOOO!!!!! I must say though, the crowd still seem very flat for D-Lo Brown, but a slightly louder pop than last week, so he is gaining some popularity. Well, I was really looking forward to this weeks raw for one main reason. Santino and Beth. Damn this is hilarious. Santino is at his best when he’s talking, and this week was no different, with that excellent backstage segment. We got several metaphors for Beth and Santino from Jerry lawler, including Batman and Catwoman. So, according to lawler, does this mean Santino IS THE BATMAN? (If anyone doesn’t get that, re-watch Santino and Rey’s promo from when Rey returned.) I must say though, it really is dun to watch Santino get beat up. He is a BRILLIANT seller. A fairly solid match, which really helped to carry on the Beth and Santino story.
But WAIT! FINAL Highlight Reel? WTF?
Well, onto the World tag Team championship match, which I was thinking would be just a chance to maybe retire Hacksaw, possibly setting him up to be GM? (My other three choices were William Regal, Ric Flair, or Shane McMahon.) So, here we go and, what’s this? RUN REF RUN! Major announcement, Jerry’s partner will be, Michael “Ice” Cole! I could not wait to see him get his ass kicked. I wasn’t disappointed.
This match did serve to show just how much the commentators actually can add though. However annoying Ice Cole can get, I personally was forgetting he wasn’t about to open his mouth, until I saw him getting clotheslined out of his shoes and pins. Cody Rhodes FTW.
Now, this for me was a little personal highlight of the show, Jamie Noble vs. Kofi Kingston. There was one reason for this. Adamle on commentary, Kingston in the ring. This could mean only one thing…..
JAMAICAN ME CRAZY!!!!!
But wait, Adamle says Kingston hit’s a double leg drop! That must be Kofi’s variation on a bog-standard dropkick…..
Speaking of Kofi and Adamle, did anyone else notice Adamle about to call Kofi the International Champion?
Well, onto CM Punk, vs. “the hottest free agent” William Regal. This was a truly five-star match, the only thing that I didn’t like was the head kick against the ring post, not because it was botched or anything, but purely because it genuinely nauseated me, the noise alone. I haven’t jumped out of my seat during wrestling for a LONG time. That move made me. This was a much better encounter than their KOTR match, and hopefully Regal will go on to get more of a push again. The only other real fault I found with this is that even though Punk is now world champion, he’s still working the undercard. WAKE UP VINCE! Punk so far = ratings, you say it yourself on your website, ratings are on the way up! So give this man the push a world champion deserves. Even after his match, the focus was still on Kane and JBL, as Punk was knocked away so as not to dare steal some of JBL’s spotlight. But, I’m thinking maybe Chris Jericho vs. JBL vs. Punk at Summerslam, with HBK running interference.
Quick note: Y2J’s new gimmick is doing his best to avoid entertaining the fans? I thought Snitsky had that patented?
Next up is Mickie James vs. Jillian. Have I ever mentioned how much I love Mickie James? I must say though, I didn’t expect Jillian to come across half as strong as she did, a sign perhaps that Mickie’s title run is coming to a close? I’ve had a feeling for a while that Katie Lea would be the next champion, and I believe her little promo was right, keep an eye on Paul around the IC title.
Another quick note, I always thought SummerSlam was biggest PARTY of the summer?
Anyone else notice Adamle’s complete ANTI-sell of MamaJuana? “I’ve got to be honest, it really doesn’t work!” Adamle, mama Juana isn’t kayfabe, it’s a real product that JBL is trying to sell…. Poor guy.
Well, after to be quite frank a main event that was not up to what I was expecting, we have the announcement of our new Raw GM! After all the build up and hype, our new GM is… MIKE ADAMLE!! I must say I was thrilled, this guy is absolutely hilarious, and I can’t wait to see next weeks Raw!
I get the feeling the Summerslammiversary main event will be CM Funk vs. The Kane vs. The Millenium Bug Christopher Jericho, for the WEDF World Welterweight Titleship!
Well, that’s enough from me, before I go however, a few plugs.
First of all, for any British wrestling promoters, looking for new talent, you may just be interested in a really talented performer by the name of Scott Star. But don’t just take my word for it, watch this video, and I’ll leave his contact details below it, with a little bit about him.
Email address: Scott_Star@hotmail.com
and my myspace is www.myspace.com/suicidescott – which they can also be used to contact me with.
I live in Buckinghamshire near London but I am able to work all around the country (If, of course, expenses are paid)
I do have a tag team partner if needed…and I slightly prefer doing tag matches anyway.
I’ve been referred to as a mix between Paul London, Chris Sabin and Edge (Due to my heel work) and I can do a bit of comedy.
Secondly, as always, please join mywwesearch. As I recently discovered, it really does work. I received two copies of Raw magazine, including the last one EVER printed. So, the more people join, the more points we get! Thank you kindly.
Any feedback, send it to bigdaddyphil92@hotmail.com.
Until Next Time.
Keep Rambling.
