Okay so I want to apologize for not writing a Smackdown column over the weekend especially after I said that I would. Again the old mind let me down and I forgot about the 4th of July weekend and that we would be away 2 of the three weekend days. So then last night after watching an atrocious Raw I thought that I would write about how much I LOVED Smackdown and then from there go right into last night’s miserable show. But I changed my mind and I’m going to go right into Raw and how they have totally F’d up two characters and, well let me just get into my rant and you will see why I hated Raw.
After two outstanding weeks I guess it was bound to happen, you know give us a mediocre Raw, only mediocre would be a compliment because what we got was pure crap. IT IS NOW OFFICIAL, now hear this, it’s definitely not John Cena that I have disliked for years, it’s the idiots that have the label of being called creative. I have known for a while that the creative staff is responsible for making Cena what he is today, a total joke. But it was the way Cena was used last night that really put over just how horrible this guy is being used or should I say being abused. Last night I was absolutely fed up with the garbage that Cena had to say. I guess the rumors are true that the once rated R show is now being geared for kids. I mean what better way to piss of JBL then by spray painting JBL IS POOPY. Wow that’s just off the charts clever, NOT. Oh look I’m acting juvenile no too.
From the time that Cena came out during the opening and talked about eating chili and being in the bathroom for three hours, to his little sophomoric backstage segment with Mickie and Kelly Kelly to that awful segment with Cryme Tyme and Cena making JBL’s limo poopy all I could think of is wow Vince must really respect John Cena to make a total jerk out of him. Listen I know Cena gets paid a lot and gets a lot of perks working for the company but I feel sorry for him because he’s been stuck with childish promos for way too long. How can most of us take to Cena when just about any credibility that he had a few years ago is just about over. I have said so many times that I can get into John Cena when he’s serious and focused, not when he acts like he did last night, and unfortunately that’s how his character has been for at least the last two years. For the first time I think ever, I have been reading feedback from of the top sites and these guys loved Cena, but after last night’s show they don’t have that same feeling about him. How could they? John Cena is like a cartoon character and he deserves so much better.
And then we have CM Punk shine last week after his surprising victory against a half unconscious Edge, and last night the little mic work that he was allowed to do was weak at best, and it was Cena that was his mouthpiece. Again if Cena was more credible and less infantile I wouldn’t have minded him doing most of the mic work, but with the shit he was given the opening totally left me cold. I guess I thought Punk would be the focal point of Raw and everything would be done to put this guy over in a big way, but along with weak mic work, he get’s stuck in a meaningless and I do mean meaningless match against Snitzky. When I saw that all take place I was livid. And to make matters worse, Punk won, but Snitzky got a hell of a lot of offense on the World Champion. The match was a waste of my time and it just took away so much of Punk’s momentum from last week. Punk should have been on fire and he wasn’t even luke warm.
And if that wasn’t all enough we got way too much JBL. Please Randy Orton come back soon. How many times did we have to sit through JBL’s entrance? Let’s just say way too many times. The New Orleans crowd just about died when JBL came out during the opener and the crowd didn’t react any better when JBL came out during that forgetful segment with Cena and Cryme Tyme. The guy is a good heel, but you put him on too much and believe me he wears his welcome out fast, very fast. John Cena is suffering thanks to the creative staff, JBL is making a lot of us suffer thanks to showing up too much and World Champion CM Punk still has a long way to go and here I thought after last week he was almost there. And there were other things that didn’t win me over such as Rey Mysterio vs. Santino. I’m not saying this would have been the match of the year or even the match of the night, but my God where was the hype for Rey’s first Raw match? And as short as this match was Santino didn’t exactly have it. This was a total disappointment all around. Now I’m a Charlie Haas fan, but how could they put their new I.C Champion in a match against a guy that gets no reaction at all? What a way to get Kofi Kingston over. And let me just say as much as I love the Jericho/Michaels feud that even seemed to be just a filler last night. In my opinion it’s the hottest angle on Raw and yet the importance of it just didn’t seem to be there last night. Yeah with the exception of Batista facing Punk at the Great American Bash and the ending with Kane going berserk Raw stunk.
So I hated the show, but that doesn’t mean things are going downhill, because next week we might get another HOT show. I mean if they can learn from last night’s major errors which by the way also includes Michael Cole doing a terrible job, in fact he was so bad that The King seemed to be just as bored as I was. This time when I say I will return next weekend I MEAN it. I will be back Saturday or Sunday to talk about Smackdown and I hope that Friday’s show will be as good as last Friday’s show. If it’s another good one then I won’t have to keep my rant and bad mood going. Before I leave you I have a request from one of my readers. In advance thank you all for helping with so many requests, I really appreciate your help, and my readers email me thanking you guys as well.
