It’s time for my predictions for tonight’s One Night Stand. Wait; didn’t I just do a prediction column two weeks ago? Oh right I did. Since Backlash we have had three pay per views in less than two months. I think If I was Vince I would have put a lot more time and build up into the June 29th Night Of Champions instead of putting on another show two weeks after the last one. But I’m not Vince and if we are lucky the streak of hot pay per views will continue tonight with One Night Stand. I want to thank so many of you for sending me your predictions this week, of course I needed watch last night’s Smackdown before I could sort out a few of the matches. And speaking of Smackdown again I liked the show very much. Okay let me get right to tonight’s card, which isn’t as weak as I first thought it was.
Melina vs. Beth Phoenix – I Quit Match
Maybe I’m way off with this one, but this is the one match that I really want to see. I really believe that Melina and Phoenix are going to put their ALL into this match. I think this match is really going to showcase Beth Phoenix’s talents and this could be the match that makes Melina shine. This I Quit match is one of the main reasons why I decided to order the show. I am picking Beth for the win, because she not only lost the title to Mickie James, but she really hasn’t had much of a win streak sine the loss of the title. So what better way to build her credibility up again than with a big win tonight.
Winner: Beth Phoenix
Big Show vs. John Morrison vs. Tommy Dreamer vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. CM Punk (Singapore Cane Match)
Until Big Show was added into this match I was so very sure that John Morrison was going to win and take on Kane for the ECW title. But I am going to go with Big Show for the win. I would imagine that this could get rather violent at least I hope that’s just what happens. This could turn out to be entertaining and I would love it if this was one of the top matches of the night.
Winner: Big Show
Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga (Falls Count Anywhere)
Well we have seen these guys in many matches but as I said in my column two weeks ago they really come through every time they oppose each other. While I am hoping that tonight will be the last Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga match, I really do expect this to turn out well. Jeff Hardy has seemed to have the upper hand against Umaga for a while so I’m going to go with Umaga to beat Jeff. I will guarantee all of you that this match will be a hard worked match by both guys.
Winner: Umaga
Shawn Michaels vs. Batista (Stretcher Match)
I’m not one for stretcher matches, but with these two guys in here I can live with the gimmick. So let’s see Batista vows to hurt Shawn. I don’t recall him saying he vows to win and hurt Shawn no just that he WILL hurt him. But, Batista needs this win since Michaels not only beat him at Backlash but Michaels also tricked Dave into believing he was hurt. Shawn has been on a pay per view tear but tonight big Dave is going to finally get his revenge. Again I’m hoping for a ton of violence during this one, hey don’t I sound like a sicko? Seriously I am so hyped for this baby.
Winner: Batista
John Cena vs. JBL (First Blood Match)
Can John Cena defeat JBL again? I say, yeah he can. Two weeks ago even though Cena beat JBL at Judgment Day, JBL dominated just about the complete match. I think JBL might get some offense, but I think tonight Cena is going to turn things around and he’s going to make JBL bleed and win another from Bradshaw the bully. I happened to like their match two weeks ago, I can honestly say Cena sold better than I have ever see him sell. So I definitely can handle their rematch tonight.
Winner: Cena
Edge vs. Undertaker (TLC Match for World Heavyweight Championship)
Do you guys remember when Taker took on Jeff Hardy in a Ladder’s match back in 2002? Well I remember it and I loved it. Sure Taker is 6 years older and I sure I am wondering if he can handle this type of gimmick match against Edge. I would think Taker is quite capable of handling tonight’s match or it wouldn’t have been booked. Listen Ric Flair vs. Edge in their ladder match was outstanding and I think we are in for one hell of a match tonight. I’m going with Edge to finally get the title and keep this in mind. If Taker loses he’s gone, now Vickie said gone from the WWE, but last night Foley kept saying this could be the last time we see him on Smackdown. If the rumors are true Taker is moving to Raw, so a Taker loss I could definitely see happening. Also like so many others on the card I want this to be the last of the Edge/Taker feud for a while
Winner: Edge
WWE Champion Triple H vs. Randy Orton (Last Man Standing Match)
I was so fortunate to be at No Mercy live last October and watch Orton and Hunter’s fantastic Last Man Standing match. This is another feud that I want ended after tonight and I wonder if these guys can out do what we saw at No Mercy or at least come close to topping that match. I sure hope so. I know Hunter and Orton will kill themselves during this match and hopefully this will rate as one of the best of the night. I’m going to stay with a Triple H win and as I said I hope tomorrow on Raw Hunter finds someone new to feud with.
Winner: Triple H
I am ordering the show but believe me I went back and forth for these past two weeks wondering if it’s worth dishing out another $40.00. Really it wasn’t until Thursday night that I decided to get it and that’s because of a friend of mine sold me on the card so well that I figured what the hell I’ll get it. I know many of my readers are not getting it since it was only 2 weeks ago that we got Judgment Day and I totally understand that. I thought I would boycott the show and send a message to WWE that we all aren’t as wealthy as Vince and why not give us a break and wait at least 4 weeks until the next pay per view. But of course I’m doing the opposite and hopefully I won’t regret getting the show. Thank you all for the predictions and please keep them coming. I will return on Tuesday with my thoughts on tonight’s show and Raw.
