PLAY-BY-PLAY
-Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson vs. James Thompson R1 – Thompson clinches and Kimbo lands knees. Thompson gets Kimbo down, but gets back up before taking damage. Thompson gets him down again and is in Kimbo’s half-guard. Thompson passes to side control but Kimbo scrambles back to his feet. They’re clinches against the cage trading knees. Thompson goes for a standing guillotine. Kimbo landing knees to Thompson’s legs while in the choke. Kimbo is out and circles away from the fence. Thompson drives Kimbo into the cage, but Kimbo takes him down. Kimbo tries a neck crank but Thompson stands and Kimbo slips and Thompson jumps down on him. Thompson tries for a Kimura but Kimbo sweeps and is now in Thompson’s half-guard. The round ends with Thompson trying for a Kimura and Kimbo trying to land punches. MMAWeekly scores round one 10-9 for Thompson.
R2 – Kimbo with jabs and Thompson goes for a takedown that Kimbo defends. Kimbo hurts Thompson with a right hand. Thompson goes for single-leg but doesn’t get it. Kimbo trying to land big shots but Thompson recovers. Thompson takes Kimbo down but Kimbo goes for a guillotine. Thompson gets out and starts to ground and pound. Kimbo’s on his back with Thompson in side control landing short elbows and punches to Kimbo.
The referee stands them up. Left hand hurts Thompson. Kimbo teeing off on Thompson. Thompson still around, though. Thompson gets a double-leg takedown and has Kimbo against the cage. Thompson has his head against the cage and landing punches, now elbows. It’s elbow after elbow, at least 20 of them. Kimbo not defending. The round ends with Thompson landing uncontested elbows to Kimbo’s head. MMAWeekly scores the second round 10-9 for Thompson.
R3 – Kimbo lands a big right hand. Thompson takes a few more shots that exploded his ear. The referee stops the fight with the announcers screaming “Horrible stoppage!!”

-Robbie Lawler vs. Scott Smith (Elite XC Middleweight Championship Bout) R1 – Smith attempts two high kicks that miss. Lawler throws a high kick that was blocked. Smith misses with another round-house. Smith attempts another one. Smith tries to rush in on Lawler and Lawler stuns him with a left. It’s Lawler stalking smith and landing shots. They’re back in the middle of the cage.
Smith with a couple more high kick misses. Lawler lands another left hand. Smith lands a high kick. They’re just brawling now with both fighters throwing big punches. Lawler using his jab effectively. Lawler with a body kick that was blocked and another body kick that hurts Smith. Another body kick by Lawler and a right hook. Smith is in big trouble. Lawler throws a flying knee. Lawler taking it to Scott Smith. MMAWeekly scores round one 10-9 for Lawler.
R2 – Straight left by Lawler. Jab after jab from Lawler. Body kick by Lawler. Inside leg kick by Smith. Smith doubles up on body kicks and is now pressing the pace. Smith with a body punch that lands. Smith clinches and lands knees to Lawler’s head. Smith doing damage. Lawler comes back with left hooks while clinching. Lawler with a hook to the body and an uppercut. Lawler putting on a dirty-boxing clinic along the cage. Smith gets off the fence and lands punches. Lawler returns. Lawler pressing Smith against the cage. Both fighters just firing punches and both taking shots. Incredible round. MMAWeekly scores it 10-9 for Lawler, but a close round.
R3 – Smith opens with an inside leg kick, followed by two more. The pace has slowed with both fighters standing in the middle of the cage. Smith with a right hand and misses with an uppercut. Lawler goes back to working his jab. They exchange punches along the fence. Lawler goes for a takedown but Smith goes for a guillotine but Lawler escapes. In the scramble, Smith took a finger to the eye. The action is temporarily stopped for Smith to recover.
The doctor stops the fight with 1:34 left in round three. The bout is declared a No Contest. Lawler retains his Elite XC middleweight title. It’s explained that title bouts must go three rounds before it can go to the judges. Gary Shaw takes the mic to announce that both fighters will be paid their winning bonuses for their efforts.

-Gina Carano vs. Kaitlin Young R1 – Carano throws two front kicks to open up. Carano catches a kick of Young’s and takes her down. Young back to her feet. Carano with a right hand. Carano using her front kick like a jab. They’re keeping a furious pace. Young takes Carano to the canvas half way through the round. Carano attempts a gogoplata. Young works some ground and pound before letting Carano back up. Both fighters throwing a lot of kicks. Extremely close round. MMAWeekly scores it 10-9 for Carano.
R2 – The pace slowed briefly and then they exchange punches and kicks. Young misses with spinning back fist and kick. Carano hurt Young with a right hand and then followed it up with a combination. Young clinches. Carano with a big left hand stunning Young again. Carano lands a flurry of punches. Carano knocks Young to the canvas with a front kick. Carano immediately takes Young’s back. Carano working for a rear naked choke. The bell rings, saving Kaitlin Young. MMAWeekly scores the second round 10-8 for Carano.
The doctor stops the fight between rounds due to the condition of Kaitlin Young’s eye.

-Phil Baroni vs. Joey Villasenor R1 – Phil comes out throwing bombs. Baroni gets Villasenor down and ground and pounds him for a few seconds before letting him back to his feet. Villasenor lands a left hook that stun Baroni. Villasenor slaps on a guillotine. Baroni escapes to be met with punches. Villasenor drops Baroni. Referee stops the fight. Joey Villasenor beats Phil Baroni by TKO.

-Brett Rogers vs. Jon Murphy R1 – A 30 second feeling out process before Murphy lands a right hand that stuns Rogers. Rogers fires back and the fighters clinch. Rogers lands a counter right hand knocking out Jon Murphy.

PRELIMINARY BOUTS
-Joe Sampieri vs. Mike Groves R1 – Sampieri gets Groves to the ground where he begins to ground and pound his opponent. Eventually, Groves reverses position and works to side guard on Sampieri. The fighters work their way back to the feet before Sampieri lands a punch that puts Groves down and Sampieri quickly jumps to the ground, works to mount, before punishing his opponent with punches forcing the referee to stop the fight.

-Zach Makovsky vs. Andre Soares R1 – The fighters move quickly to the ground, Soares moves into a oma plata, but Makovsky perseveres and the fight moves back to the feet. Soares lands good kicks as Makovsky counters with punches. MMAWeekly scores R1 10-9 for Andre Soares
R2 – Makovsky controls the pace throughout the second round, landing good punches and kicks throughout. Soares attempts multiple takedowns, but it stifled at every turn as he looks like his cardio is fading. Makovsky lands a good knee towards the end of the round, but cannot finish. R3 – Makovsky dominates the third round as well, peppering Soares with punches and kicks while defending any takedown attempt from his opponent. Makovsky throws another good knee to end the round as the fight closes. MMAWeekly scores R3 10-9 for Zach Makovsky
Zach Makovsky def. Andre Soares by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-26, 29-26) R3
-James Jones vs. Calvin Kattar R1 – Jones comes out strong working a good Muay Thai attack with solid knees in the clinch. Jones lands a good takedown on Kattar before transitioning to a kimura attempt along with a reverse triangle, but Kattar survives. Jones gets another takedown and pushes Kattar against the fence, working punches before taking his opponent’s back. Jones sinks in the rear naked choke forcing the tap from Kattar.

-Wilson Reis vs. Justin Robbins R1 – Reis with an absolutely dominant fight from start to finish. Reis gets the fight to the ground early where he punishes Robbins from the mount before moving to an armbar. Robbins rolls to survive, but gets caught in a triangle choke. Reis releases that hold and moves onto an omo plata, then taking his opponent’s back where he sinks in a fight ending rear naked choke.

-Nick Serra vs. Matt Makowski R1 – Serra looks strong in the opening part of the round, getting Makowski to the ground and working for an armbar attempt. Serra eventually takes his opponent’s back during the round and tries to lock on a choke, but Makowski stays alive and avoids the submission. Back on the feet, Makowski looks strong hitting Serra with punches and knees, as Serra looks to be losing steam. MMAWeekly scores R1 10-9 for Nick Serra
R2 – Makowski continues to stalk Serra in the second round, avoiding any takedown while hitting Serra with good leg kicks and punches. Serra looks exhausted as he can barely keep his hands up, but Makowski is unable to capitalize outside of some punches in the clinch. Eventually, Serra drops trying to bait his opponent to the ground and struggles to get up. The referee takes a point. Serra does the same thing again, the referee deducts a point, Serra cannot continue and the referee stops the fight.

-Carlton Haselrig vs. Carlos Moreno R1 – Haselrig takes the fight down early and then moves to attempt a foot or leg lock of some kind. After a lull in action, the fight is stood back up. Moreno looks good on the feet, but he is taken down again. Haselrig is unable to do much as he takes Moreno’s back, but another break in action causes the fight to be stood back up again. The round ends. Moreno is unable to answer the bell for the 2nd session.

-Chris Liguori vs. Jim Bova R1 – Liguori comes out strong landing knees on Bova. The fight hits the ground where Bova ends up on top working ground and pound, while Liguori attempts submissions from the bottom. Bova looks strong his his ground attack while keeping Liguori under him. MMAWeekly scores R1 10-9 for Jim Bova
R2 – Liguori is able to get Bova to the ground early in the second round where he begins to unload punches and elbows from inside of Bova’s guard. Liguori looked strong as he pounded away at Bova. The fight is paused because of a cut on Bova’s face. The doctor stops the fight due to the cut.
