The following are highlights from Samoa Joe’s interview with the Poughkeepsie Journal:
On Vince Russo: I think he gets honestly, in my opinion, an unfair bum rap. I think the booking committee is much more than him. I think some of the segments that the fans have problems with, maybe Vince was not even necessarily involved with. There’s been a few times that’s happened. […] He’s kind of like the big human shield and I think it’s pretty unfortunate. I can guarantee about 70 percent of the stuff that the fans think is Vince Russo, he really had nothing to do with.
On Scott Steiner: Scott’s been great. Scott’s another guy I think gets a bum rap and he’s a tremendous wrestler. Knows what to do in there and knows how to get things done. It’s just a matter of letting him do his thing. Not telling him how to do stuff. Letting Scott Steiner be Scott Steiner. Trust me, he’ll be plenty entertaining all on his own. He’s got great math too, if you’ve watched that.
On TNA’s future: I think at this point, we’ve done enough baby steppin’. Now, we need to start making some strides. We’re definitely going to be doing some international expansion and stuff like that. In the foreseeable future, I see us doing a lot more international stuff, definitely. Throughout the States, we’re going to continue to grow on the house-show circuit and go from there.
