It’s not often when I let a WWE pay per view slide, but that’s just what I’m going to do tonight. There are more things on this show that I don’t care to see than I do care to see. In fact I think that the only match that interests me is Shawn Michaels vs. Batista with Chris Jericho as the special guest ref. But as much as I want to see this one, it’s not worth the price of the pay per view. Now I will say this, I am going to read the results as they come in and if by any chance this show sounds REALLY good then I might buy the encore. But for now Backlash is not on my list for ordering. But I still can’t wait to share my predictions with you. I don’t expect to anything shocking to happen, and I am going with only one title change. Let me get right to my Backlash picks and I hope I get more right than wrong for a change.
Big Show vs. Great Khali
Come on really how good could this match be? Big Show is going to win because he jobbed to Floyd Mayweather last month, but other than my brilliant pick I just don’t see this amounting to much.
Winner: Big Show
WWE Women’s champ Mickie James & Maria & Ashley & Michelle McCool & Cherry & Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix & Melina & Jillian & Layla El & Victoria & Natalya Neidhart
I enjoyed watching this group on Raw Monday night, and I think this could be a decent match. Hey I don’t think it could be any worse than Big Show vs. Khali. The heels won last month in the Bunnymania match, but I think they still might pull this one out, mainly because of their new ally, Natalya Neidhart. I’ll go with the heels and I would love to read that this one really came off well.
Winners: Beth, Melina, Jillian, Layla, Victoria, and Natalya
ECW champion Kane vs. Chavo Guerrero
Just like his brother Undertaker, Kane is NOT going to lose the match. I know there’s going to be plenty of interference for Chavo, thanks to Bam Neely, but Kane is going to win and continue to reign as the ECW champion.
Winner: Kane
WWE United States champion MVP vs. Matt Hardy
Matt Hardy will be the new U.S. champion, and I believe the timing couldn’t be better. Let’s face it MVP and Hardy have had numerous matches, and I think this should be the last for a while and it is time to take the belt off of Montel. I’m sure this match is going to be good, in fact with the Hardy fans in attendance I expect this match to have great fan reaction from beginning to end. This could be one of the top matches of the night.
Winner: Matt Hardy
Batista vs. Shawn Michaels – Chris Jericho Special Ref
This is the toughest match for me. I really can see this ending with a few different scenarios. For instance I could see the match ending in a No Contest, or Michaels winning on a DQ, but the one I’m going with his Jericho costing HBK the victory, which in turn will give Batista the win, and then Jericho and Michaels will begin their feud. As I said this is the match that I wish I could see, I cannot see this be anything but EXCELLENT. Hey wouldn’t it be funny if Ric Flair shows up, turns on Michaels and helps Batista win? That probably won’t happen but it would be cool.
Winner: Batista
World champion The Undertaker vs. Edge
Now last month I didn’t rave about their Wrestlemania match like so many of the fans did. I liked it but it took a long time for the match to really get me excited. I still thought Batista vs. Taker last year at Wrestlemania was one hell of a match. In fact their match this past Friday on Smackdown was outstanding. I happen to really like the chemistry between Taker and Batista. So maybe that’s why I’m not that into Edge and Undertaker’s rematch. Now don’t get me wrong, I have no doubt that this will turn out well and that each guy will give 110 percent, but it’s not like a must see match for me. I just don’t see Edge taking the title back at all. Now Edge could win it on a DQ which I think is very possible, but I’m sticking with a Taker victory.
Winner: Undertaker
WWE champion Randy Orton vs. JBL vs. John Cena vs. Triple H – Elimination bout
The minute JBL was put into the match was when I started to think about not getting this show. I’m sorry but the more I see him the more he’s just turning me off. I could put up with him as the Smackdown announcer but having him back in the title race just pisses me off. I’m so ready for Hunter to become the WWE champion and I know that’s not going to happen tonight. I feel Randy has had it long enough, Cena had it for a long time and enough is enough and its been over three years Triple H was champion. I believe it’s Hunter’s time. I’m sure this match will come off very well, but I have no enthusiasm for it at all. I see JBL eliminated first by Cena, then a pissed off JBL will come back and screw Cena out of the win, with Cena being second to go out, and then Orton will pin Hunter, hopefully leading to a one on one feud with Orton vs. Triple H.
Winner: Randy Orton
I want to say this and I mean this I really do. Just because I’m not ordering the show doesn’t mean that I hope it’s a dud. I would love to read how fantastic it was, I would love to read nothing but very positive feedback on Backlash. I have a few readers that will be there live and I know they will have great time. And for all of you that will be ordering it I really hope you enjoy the show and I would love it if you email me and give me your thoughts on what you saw. Okay keep your predictions coming in. And I just read that Mick Foley will be working side by side with Michael Cole tonight. I am so ready for this. As much as I’m a Coach fan he has done nothing as JBL’s replacement, and I really believe the WWE has finally put Foley in the right spot. Okay Tuesday I will not be around too much, so look for my Raw thoughts on Wednesday Raw will be WAY better than last week’s show.
