–Samoa Joe is signed to a long term deal with TNA.
There was a recent issue with the copyright and trademark over the Samoa Joe name though. Joe bought the rights to the name himself, but TNA wanted to have ownership of the name. So while this led to discussions about how to handle the situation, there was never a fear that Joe would leave.
The two sides have reached an agreement, with Joe retaining ownership of the name. Joe has been using the Samoa Joe name since before he came to TNA.
–Samoa Joe was one of the special guests on this past week’s live edition (04/14/08) of Monday Night Mayhem (presented by Sweet Sunshine Sauces) — which can be heard in streaming audio every week (hosted by The Big Mosh & Blade and heard LIVE at 8PM ET/7PM CT every Monday night) exclusively on The Monday Night Mayhem Radio Network (www.MondayNightMayhem.com, www.OnlineWorldOfWrestling.com, & www.ITunes.com). Below are some highlights from the interview:
Blade asked Joe if he thinks he is more suited to be the top guy in the company, despite many fans’ strong opinions that his reign as TNA World Heavyweight Champion is long overdue. “Absolutely…All things come in due time…Right now is the due time.” He is more than happy right now to be that person, and lead the way for TNA going into the spring/summer months ahead.
Compared to his previous matches with Angle, Joe wished to go on record by saying “by far, this is our best encounter…I think this had enough of a big match feel.” Joe thinks they were able to “push the envelope” so to speak, and were able to give the viewing audience something they will remember for years to come.
