Welcome aboard to Heat. Four matches are on cue this week, but more importantly Cryme Tyme are back in the Heat house. Welcome back. They’re starting us off this week so let’s get straight to the action.
Cryme Tyme vs The Logan Brothers
Yo, yo, yo. Here come Shad and JTG to a big pop. The Logan Brothers are Matt and Brian. Matt appeared on Smackdown this past week in a loss to Vladimir Kozlov. This is how I can tell each one apart. JTG gets a side headlock, roundabout clothesline and dropkick on Matt. JTG elbows Matt in the corner. Shad whips then launches JTG over his shoulders to deck Matt in the corner. The agile JTG manages to land back on the apron. Shad disposes of Matt with a double underhook suplex. Thanks for coming Matt. Brian tags in but fares no better as Shad delivers two clotheslines and a delayed gorilla press into a front slam. Josh is annoyed as he can’t tell the Logan Brothers apart. He should’ve watched Smackdown. Shad kicks Brian in the back as Grisham mistakenly refers to Shad as JTG. Sloppy. Shad delivers snake eyes to Brian in the corner then gets him on his shoulders and JTG finishes Brian off with a rolling neckbreaker from the second rope. Thanks for coming Brian. That’s the new and improved G9 folks. JTG mugs for the camera before getting the pinfall. 1-2-3. A nice, short showcase that got Cryme Tyme over well. The crowd still dig them. Here Are Your Winners: CRYME TYME. Post match, Cryme Tyme pose in the corner, get their arms raised and high five. Josh says we should call the Logans’ mum as the Logan brothers aren’t coming home……..ever. Does anyone else see the potential for a Tag Team Turmoil match at Backlash? It’s great to see the Tag Teams getting some good TV time on Raw and Heat right now.
Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs Charlie Haas
The hometown Hacksaw receives the usual fanfare. After tussling to the ropes, Haas scores with sucker punches. Hacksaw comes back with a hiptoss and two clotheslines. Haas recovers in the corner as Hacksaw works the crowd. Haas ducks his head outside to avoid a Hacksaw attack. Hacksaw backs off. A second tussle to the ropes results in Hacksaw landing some punches. Haas telegraphs a backbodydrop with a boot to the head. Haas works over Hacksaw with a hand choke/face rip in the ropes then punches and a hand choke on the mat. After a knee to the back, Haas applies a chinlock. Hacksaw elbows free but runs into a knee to the gut. Haas drops a knee for a nearfall, before re-applying the chinlock. Haas cuts off Hacksaw’s fightback by going to the eyes then choking him along the top rope. Hacksaw paces the ring then starts to punch back. Hacksaw Irish whips, misses a charge and crashes to the mat. Haas stomps, chokes, gets a nearfall then applies a third chinlock. Hacksaw tries to elbow free so Haas takes him down by the hair. Haas plays to the booing crowd before driving his boot across Hacksaw’s face. Haas again chokes Hacksaw in the middle rope with his hands. Hacksaw blocks then reverses head rams in the corner. Hacksaw punches, Irish whips and signals for the three point stance clothesline. Haas rolls outside and puts a mask on. Hacksaw reaches through the ropes to yank the mask off. Haas gets in but gets hit by a clothesline. 1-2-3. Haas deserves better than this. The same crap from Hacksaw. Slightly better than his match last week but that’s not saying much. For someone that no longer bumps or sells well, I question whether Hacksaw has outstayed his welcome? Yes. Here is Your Winner: HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN. Post match, Hacksaw tosses and catches his 2×4.
Super Crazy vs Snitsky
Snitsky shoves Crazy to the corner. Crazy avoids a charge. Snitsky gets his foot tied up allowing Crazy to kick at the back of Snitsky’s leg. Snitsky catches a cross body attempt and rams Crazy upside down into the corner. Placed in a tree of woe, Crazy receives a series of Snitsky stomps. Crazy falls down in a heap. Snitsky stomps on the back before throwing Crazy head first into the corner. The momentum sends Crazy outside onto the ring apron. Rolling back in, Crazy receives more stomps. Snitsky slams, smiles, drops two elbows and applies a crossface on the mat. Snitsky switches to a front facelock then a double underhook wrench. Crazy drives knees into Snitsky’s legs until Snitsky clubs Crazy across the back. Sidewalk slam by Snitsky who then misses with a legdrop attempt. Crazy hits three low dropkicks then a missile dropkick from the top rope for a nearfall. (Snitsky throws Crazy off at two with authority). Crazy can’t Irish whip Snitsky who reverses. Snitsky catches a float over attempt but Crazy gets down and staggers Snitsky with another kick to the back of his leg. Crazy runs into a big boot and Snitsky finishes things with the pumphandle slam. 1-2-3. Maybe Crazy will beat Snitsky one of these days. Their matches together get better each time. This was one of their better ones. Here is Your Winner: SNITSKY. Post match, Snitsky favours his leg before snarling at the crowd.
Paul Burchill w/Katie Lea vs “The Canadian Bulldog” D.H. Smith
Main Event time. The Burchills come out first and Katie looks smokin’ hot this week. Katie gives Paul a mic. Paul says, tonight he’s facing D.H. Smith, son of the British Bulldog. Everyone’s been asking him, how he feels to be facing a fellow Brit? Paul calls the Americans silly, saying it shows how much they really know as D.H. is half British and half Canadian which actually makes him somewhat of a mutt. Paul concludes, saying he and his sister Katie are purebloods and tonight we’re going to see the difference superior genetics makes from a superior country. Smith receives piped in applause and a bulldog slogan has been added to his titantron. Glad Smith has been restored as a face following last week’s debacle. Katie talks trash to Smith as she waves to Paul on her way out of the ring. Smith throws Burchill to the mat. Cue a standoff. Burchill gets a quick go-behind, punch to the back of the head and side headlock takedown. Burchill delivers a snapmare and tries a chinlock but Smith immediately counters into an armlock throw. Smith keeps the armlock applied before switching to a hammerlock. Burchill backs Smith to the corner and drills him with an elbow to the head. Burchill clubs Smith into the corner where he works over him with punches. Both exchange uppercuts before Smith hits a series of forearms knocking Burchill down. Smith applies an armbar and drops his legs down onto Burchill’s arm. Smith ties up the arm and slams Burchill onto it for a nearfall. Burchill knees the gut to escape an armbar. Burchill delivers some punches. Both men go back and forth trying to block and counter a lift attempt before Smith manages to execute a delayed vertical suplex. Shades of his dad there. Smith gets a nearfall. Burchill rolls outside. Smith goes out and chases Burchill who gets back in. Smith grabs Burchill’s legs but Burchill uses them to shove Smith into the guardrail. Smith favours the back of his head. Burchill delivers some shots then puts Smith back in where Burchill gets a one count. Burchill wears Smith down with two chinlocks and a neck tie. Smith escapes the neck tie by throwing Burchill over his shoulders. Burchill throws the advancing Smith head first into the second turnbuckle. Burchill delivers a back suplex (despite Smith attempting to punch his way free) and both men are down. Smith favours his head. Burchill gets up first, Smith ducks a clothesline and lands a thesz press and punches. Smith follows up with a backbodydrop and two dropkicks. Burchill telegraphs a backbodydrop by hanging onto the ropes and booting Smith in the head. Burchill then runs into a powerslam and Smith fires up. Smith boots the gut and sets Burchill up for a back suplex. Katie gets on the apron and Smith gets distracted. Burchill takes advantage with a chopblock to the leg. Burchill delivers the curbstomp. 1-2-3. Good match. Here is Your Winner: PAUL BURCHILL. Post match, the Burchills raise their arms and embrace in the ring.
Grisham thanks us for watching to end the show.
Best match: The Cryme Tyme squash was very entertaining. Then again I am a Cryme Tyme mark.
Worst match: Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs Charlie Haas.
Show verdict: Thumbs in the middle. Everything that wasn’t Hacksaw was passable. However, the constant restholds are plain lazy and are just killing some of the matches. More than two in a Heat match is just overkill.
