Bob Knight might not be an ex-coach for too long. After resigning Monday from Texas Tech, he’s been offered another coaching job – the first ever head coach at TNA!
TNA co-founder Jeff Jarrett said Wednesday that they would be happy to welcome him aboard. “TNA was shocked to hear Coach Knight resigned,” said Jarrett. “Coach Knight is a sports icon and we’d be thrilled and honored to have him and make TNA into a national power, much like he did for Texas Tech.”
Jarrett added with a smile, “Plus we have an almost unlimited amount of steel chairs and it’s legal to throw them!”
TNA’s Kevin Nash remembers being a high school star in Michigan when Knight came to his home on a recruiting visit. But alas, said Nash, “I chose Tennessee.”
And coincidentally, this Sunday, TNA has a pay event “Against All Odds” in Greenville, S.C., so don’t be too surprised if Knight shows up to check out the atmosphere and maybe toss out the first chair (just funnin’ ya, coach).
It may have been a Super Tuesday for some, but it was a Sad Saturday for ex-WWE champ Brock Lesnar, who lost in his UFC debut to ex-champ Frank Mir quicker than it takes Aunt Thelma to dress (90 seconds).
And it’s official: the WWE has released Bobby Lashley. Rumors say he was unhappy with the slice he got from last year’s WrestleMania pie. We’re not sure if he can find a place having a larger pie with bigger slices!
Congrats to new daddy Rory McAllister of WWE’s Highlanders.
