Michael Sileck, chief operating officer of World Wrestling Entertainment Inc., has joined the board of directors of Switch & Data Facilities Co. Inc.
His appointment followed a move by Switch & Data, a Tampa-based technology firm, to expand its board from six to seven members.
Sileck said in a release that Switch & Data is a proven company in an exciting industry and that the firm has significant growth opportunities.
Sileck has more than 20 years of experience in the entertainment and media industries, according to a release.
He joined World Wrestling Entertainment (NYSE: WWE) in Stamford, Conn., in 2005 as chief financial officer and was named chief operating officer in February. He is a member of WWE’s executive committee and serves on its board of directors.
WWE recently said it would invest in Florida Championship Wrestling in Tampa, in a move to revive professional wrestling.
Prior to WWE, Sileck held executive positions at Monster Worldwide (NASDAQ: MNST), USA Networks and Sinclair Broadcast Group (NASDAQ: SBGI).
Sileck will be a member of Switch & Data’s audit committee, as well as corporate governance and nominating committee. He will receive the company’s standard cash and stock-based compensation for non-employee directors, Switch &Data said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company’s directors were paid an annual fee of $30,00 from January 2006 to September 2006, then an annual fee of $40,000 pro-rated over the period from October 2006 to December 2006, according to the most recent proxy filing by Switch & Data.
