As Jeff Hardy looked down from a platform 30-plus feet in the air, he had a funny feeling.
But he knew he had to leap. It was a big step in taking his feud with Randy Orton to the next level.
And what happened next was one of those Holy S–t moments that wrestling fans are still talking about. Hardy did a Swanton Bomb, flipping onto the prone body of Orton (at least that’s the way it was set up to look).
“It was pretty creepy,” says Hardy. “I checked it out earlier in the day. When I got up there and looked down, I was thinking, ‘I’ve gotta follow through on this. I’ve gotta do it.’
“But when I jumped, what an adrenaline rush! It felt like I was 50 feet up.”
Hardy says when WWE creative comes to him with an idea, he’s usually up for it.
“Really, the only time I’ve had to say no was when they wanted me to kiss Amy (Dumas).”
There had just been a nasty real-life split between Dumas (Lita) and Jeff’s brother Matt.
Hardy is looking forward to tomorrow night’s match against WWE champ Randy Orton at the Royal Rumble, but he’s already looking ahead, at a future opponent.
“I’d love to wrestle Matt,” he says. “We were always huge fans of the Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart matches. We’d watch together and think that was really cool, brothers fighting.”

RAW and Smackdown! have gone high-def on The Score … Triple X Wrestling has two shows on Feb. 2 at the Battleground Academy (1546 Chatalaine Blvd.) in Ottawa. The main event for the 1:30 show is a triple-threat flag match with King Sphinx vs. Shawn MacMillan vs. Caster McFear.
