Dr. Death Steve Williams Announced For RCW Outloudfest:
From RCWOnline.com:“Dr. Death” Steve Williams is one of the hardest hitting grapplers of our time. Although Williams had a short stint with the WWE, he is primarily known for his work in Midsouth/UWF and of course as a member of the Varsity Squad in NWA/WCW (alongside Kevin Sullivan, Rick Steiner, and Mike Rotunda).
In recent years Williams has battled throat cancer and won! Williams wrote a book about his career and struggles with cancer entitled “How Dr. Death Became Dr. Life”. We encourage anyone to pick up the book as it is a MUST READ. Thanks to Jerry “Squint” Horton and RCW Commissioner Mike Horton for making this possible for the fans of RCW as Dr. Death comes to this year’s OUTLOUD FEST on Saturday July 26th, 2008 at the New Boston Stadium in New Boston, OH. Check out Outloud Fest on Myspace.
Outloud Fest will be held July 26th, 2008 at the New Boston Stadium in New Boston, OH. Keep checking RCWOnline.com for more info.
IWA 1/19 Columbus, Ohio Results:
From the IWA:
IWA Columbus Event 1-19-08
The IWA invaded Coco’s on Columbus Ohio’s West side on Saturday January 19th. We would like to thank all the IWA Superstars who made this event a special event. We had the largest crowd to attend a Columbus indy show in years. Again, thank you IWA Superstars, personnel and fans.
1. Manager David Lanning unleashed a new performer to the IWA as Rogue def another newcomer, Storm, in the opening contest.
2. Notorious Tony Scott made his return to the IWA in a match against Bryce Bennett. In the year and a half or so Scott has been out of the business he has gained a significant amount of weight. Thus he was def. by Bennett in a tough contest. Scott feels it is only a matter of time before he will be at his former level in the ring.
3. In a grudge match the Judge once again squared off against the Soultaker. As many of you may know Soultaker dropped his 375 pound body onto Judge about two months ago causing damage to the Judges back. The Judge was itching for revenge in this contest however it was just not supposed to be. The Judge was on his way to winning the contest when he flung himself at Soultaker, mist, and crotched himself on the ropes. Thus making it an easy pin for Soultaker.
4. J.T. Hogg defended his U.S. Hvwt. Title against another newcomer to the IWA, Rapture. Both wrestlers fought a rugged contest but in the end Hogg was able to score the pin and retain his strap.
5. The lovely ladies returned to the IWA ring as Halie Hatred defeated Marry Elizabeth in a tough contest.
6. In sort of a strange six man tag match, Riot Squad member Bull Miller teamed up with Maverick Mark Mathews and J.T. Hogg, to face the tag team champions, Onyx, Joe Joe Little, and their third man, E-Dog. This wild match was full of action from start to Finnish but in the end Onyx was able to score a pin on Mathews for the win.
7. It had been decided that because of his not defending the title often enough that the Cruiserweight Championship was being striped from Zack Gowen. Thus Live Wire Aaron LaRusso faced off against Shooting Star, Matt Taylor/with manager. Ms. MacKenzie, for the vacated belt. To make the match even more important (and dangerous) it was decided the contest would be fought in a Ladder Match.
If ever two individuals put their heart and soul into a contest this was the match. Both wrestlers fought with all they had. The ladder became a weapon at the hands of both Superstars. But in the end, LaRusso proved to be the better man on this night, capturing the Cruiser Weight Title.
