We have gotten reports from Neilsen Media that the official final rating for the January 7 edition of WWE Monday Night RAW has come in at a 3.2 composite. This number is unusually low for RAW, and there are several things to take into consideration.
First, how has the absence of Monday Night Football presented by the NFL impacted the rating? Obviously we can’t tell for sure yet, simply because New Year’s Eve was a holiday and last night’s RAW competed with the collegiate level of football’s BCS National Championship game. Next week will be the first true test.
Speaking of the BCS National Championship game, there was a portion before kickoff where they interviewed Ohio State Buckeyes star linebacker James Laurinaitis. He talked about the excitement surrounding the championship opportunity and was shown with his father, WWE Hall of Famer Road Warrior Animal. By the end of the contest, Ohio State had fallen victim to another SEC team in a bowl game, losing 38-24 and dropping their record to SEC teams in Bowl Games to 0-9.
Another X-Factor that baffles many of the close rating followers is the amount of promotion they used for RAW Roulette. Again, next week will be the first true test of the new year for WWE Monday Night RAW.
