The television ratings from Neilsen Media have been released for the January 3 edition of TNA iMPACT! The numbers are a little lower than normal, but that can probably be attributed to the New Year holiday week and a plethora of television shows making their season premieres (ie The Apprentice on NBC). The Sugar Bowl featuring the Kansas Jayhawks defeating the Virginia Tech Hokies 24-21 was one of the higher rated bowls of the season and also likely drawing away from TNA’s 18-49 demographic. Here is the ratings breakdown for the most recent two-hour show:
1.1 cable rating
— .70 in M18-49
— .47 in P18-49
— .61 in M18-34
1.4 million (Average Audience)
LANCE HOYT TO APPEAR ON NEW TLC WRESTLING SERIES – On January 22 at 9/8c, the TLC network will begin airing a new wrestling reality series called “The Bussey Bunch”. The show follows Michael Bussey and his sons, who run the Professional Championship Wrestling organization based out of Arlington, Texas. TNA Wrestling’s own Lance Hoyt will be appearing on the series, as Hoyt got his start in the sport with PCW and still competes regularly for the promotion. Hoyt works closely with the Bussey family and helps train many of the younger wrestlers that break into PCW. Check out Lance Hoyt on “The Bussey Bunch” when it debuts on TLC on Tuesday, January 22.
Karen Angle‘s ankle injury occurred after the in-ring interview segment that aired last night. What happened is that she hopped off of the ring apron instead of taking the steps, and with her wearing those hard high heel shoes, she landed badly and broke her ankle. The break in her ankle was at the upper most part of the ankle which connects to the leg. There is no word on how long she will be out, but it probably won’t be too long if she even has to miss any time. The injury occurred over three weeks ago, so that gave her a lot of time to heal. Also, last week’s main event featuring Angle & Roode vs. Booker & Christian was taped after the in-ring interview segment that aired last night, and that explains why she didn’t come out with Kurt for the match last week.
