My aunts invited King Gremlin over for a pitcher of Wild Turkey Egg Nog as they reviewed the year’s highlights:
January: Triple H suffers a severe quadriceps injury and his career is feared over.
February: Big Poppa Pump jumps to TNA.
March: The Undertaker takes the title (from Batista) by winning his 15th consecutive ‘Mania match. Vince McMahon not only loses his match, but his hair to Donald Trump!
April: My aunts successfully defend their Senior Tag Team Jell-O Wrestling title.
May: Kurt Angle wins the last NWA world title belt (which is then retired due to legal mumbo jumbo) and automatically becomes the first TNA world champ.
June: Against all odds, TNA celebrates its fifth anniversary.
July: Dustin Rhodes joins TNA and brother Cody joins the WWE thus creating a real “Family Feud.”
August: Former Tennessee Titan Pacman Jones joins TNA, Angle wins all the gold belts TNA has to offer and Triple H comes back from injury to beat King Booker at “SummerSlam.”
September: Jones and Ron Killings win TNA’s tag title.
October: King Booker joins TNA, but minus the crown (more legal stuff) as Booker T.
November: After a three-year absence, Chris Jericho rejoins the WWE.
December: “Raw” celebrates its 15th anniversary by bringing back Hulk Hogan.
And lest we forget those we lost this year: Sensational Sherri Martel, Crush, Mike Awesome and Bam Bam Bigelow.

And don’t forget Benoit. Even though what he did was tragic you can not deny the fact the he was one AWESOME person to watch in the ring. And from what I have read, “mentally” that wasn’t the Benoit that everyone knew on that night.

Absolutely, Chris. And don’t forget Moolah, either. There were so many magnificent entertainers we lost this year, but they will remain alive as long as we keep their memories in our minds.
For whatever reason, the author of the article left out quite a few legends, but I agree with you. I take great pride in knowing I traveled from Georgia to Madison Square Garden in New York City for Wrestlemania XX to see Benoit win his first World Title. It’s all so surreal now, especially when I look through the pictures I took from within the arena… most notably the embrace between Benoit and Eddie at the end of the show with both men showcasing their belts.
