Interview By: Andy Steven
Date: October 2, 2007
WWE 2007 Diva Search finalist Jessica Hatch recently took some time out of her scheduled to take part in an interview for www.PWMania.com. Jessica Hatch speaks on the 2007 Diva Search, wanting to work with Torrie Wilson, having trouble with another contestant, Playboy and much more! Below is the complete interview:
Andy Steven: Hello Jessica Hatch , firstly I would like to thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to take part in this interview for www.PWMania.com. What’s it like to be involved in the 2007 WWE Diva Search?
Jessica Hatch: It is an amazing experience. By far the most exciting thing I have ever been a part of. I’m doing everything I can to reach my fans and help them learn about me by doing radio shows all over the states, responding to fan mail, and promoting myself by handing out diva cards I created. I look forward to each and everyday I am blessed with to get up and work hard to get closer and closer to the finish line.
Andy Steven: How did you hear about the Diva Search contest and what made you enter it?
Jessica Hatch: I received an email from my modelling agency here in Houston Texas in regards to the casting. I jumped on the opportunity to audition being that it was a combination of both athleticism and acting skills. These are my two passions. I love sports and love acting. I then got a call back to attend the 2007 diva search casting call in Huntington Beach California. It was the best feeling ever to know I was in the running to be the next WWE Diva.
Andy Steven: Having played sports in college, do you think you have a slight athletic advantage over the other 7 contestants, are you looking forward to wrestling in a ring?
Jessica Hatch: I definitely think I have an advantage over the other contestants due to my athletic background but it’s an advantage I have worked for all my life. I think of it as better qualified not so much an advantage. God Blessed me with athletic talent and I am thankful to be given an opportunity to use it. I am really looking forward to wrestling in the ring. I am ready to run circles around those girls.
Andy Steven: What kind of knowledge of wrestling did you have before the competition? Were you a fan, or was this generally your first time being exposed to the business?
Jessica Hatch: I watched wresting growing up like when Hulk Hogan was a big star but over the past years I’ve been so involved with college and collegiate sports that I can’t say I have been given the opportunity to watch it as much as I would have loved to. There honestly isn’t anything on television I have kept up with. I rarely sit down long enough to turn on the TV. Ever since the diva search I have been learning more and more about the industry and it is so exciting. I love watching and learning about it all. I just can’t wait to be a part of it myself and make my fans yell and scream for me while get down and dirty in the ring.
Andy Steven: For those unaware of your past projects in entertainment, what are some of the things you’ve done and which project did you most enjoy?
Jessica Hatch: In the past I have competed in several fitness competitions. I started out in the Miss Galaxy which included an obstacle course and beauty pageant. I went on to compete in the Women’s Tri-Fit which also included the an obstacle and beauty pageant and in addition it had several strength tests such as pull-ups, sit-ups, push-ups, step-ups and a shuttle run. I love being able to use my athletic ability to compete along with looks. If you visit www.jessicadhatch.com you can see all the other fun and exciting competitions I competed in.
Andy Steven: If you could work with any male or female wrestler in an angle for WWE, who would you choose and why?
Jessica Hatch: I would love to work with Torrie Wilson. I feel as though she would be a blast at work with. She and I have a fitness competition background so I feel as though we could relate in a lot of ways.
Andy Steven: How do the wrestling fans compare to fans of other programs you’ve worked with?
Jessica Hatch: They are the best of the best. They get so into it which makes the wrestlers that much better. They push us to be better than we are and take it to the next level. I love watching there excitement and how dedicated they are to their Superstars and Divas.
Andy Steven: What would you call a good night out in town?
Jessica Hatch: A good night in town would start off at a fun restaurant where sports are on because you know there will be a much better crowd in a place like that. After enjoying dinner and drinks there we would head over to a club where the music is popin so I can do my thing on the dance floor. I love to dance. Hip hop is my favorite when I want to get down and drop it like its hot. Other days I want to be spun around on a wooden dance floor to a nice country song. Some clubs have a little of both. Those are the ideal places to go.
Andy Steven: Have you made any friendships with people in the WWE or any of the other Diva Search contestants?
Jessica Hatch: I definitely have. I make friends everywhere I go. I love people and anyone that can carry on a conversation is a friend of mine. All the other Divas our friends of mine outside the competition. We really bonded throughout the competition and decided upon having a get together ever year at one of each others places in the different states and cities we are all from. The casting directors, editors, sound guys, video editing crew, host and everyone else at the competition became a friend of mine. They are a wonderful group of people that I look forward to working with.
Andy Steven: Were there any Diva Search girls that had a problem with you or any of the other contestants?
Jessica Hatch: JKim and I had a little spiff over a ball being called out when she thought it was in, which was the winning point for us blonde bombshells in the volleyball game. She also was against me in the limbo competition and said I cheated. That’s her opinion. The referee is the one who makes the calls and the ball was out and I made it under the limbo stick so she can just sizzle her little temper and get over it. I think she feels I am her biggest threat in the competition so she over reacts at situations to try and make herself look better and get more attention.
Andy Steven: How would you feel if you won the 2007 WWE Diva Search and received the WWE 1 year contract?
Jessica Hatch: I would be estatic!!!!!!!!!!!! I would start training right away so I could start fighting in the ring ASAP! I am ready to make my fans happy!
Andy Steven: What do you think makes you different compared to the other Diva Search contestants and why should fans vote for you?
Jessica Hatch: I am different because I care. I am so into my fans and responding to there questions and learning what makes them happy. I also think my athletic background makes me different because I am on a whole other level than them when it comes to sports. Wrestling is about being an all around athlete and that’s what I am so when compared to the other Diva Contestants I am a step ahead already which means the sooner I can starts wrestling in the ring.
Andy Steven: You have modelled for several magazines including Budweiser and Maxim, would you consider posing for Playboy?
Jessica Hatch: It would involve some thought and contemplation. I respect all the girls that have done it in the past. It’s a very tasteful magazine. We will just have to wait and see……
Andy Steven: I would like to thank you very much once again for taking this time to take part in this interview for www.PWMania.com, I wish you the best of luck in the future, do you have any messages to say to your fans.
Jessica Hatch: I love all my fans sooooooo much. Yall are amazing and are really the reason for the season. Yall make it all happen that’s for sure. Keep voting at www.WWE.com and check out my website at www.jessicadhatch.com to learn more about me. God Bless Yall, Love Diva Jess.
Kind Regards,
Andy Steven
