Have I got a few theories for you, and they all have to do with the newest McMahon. So along with my theories I want to talk about this week’s Raw. It was a good show in many ways and in other ways not so hot, but I would say on a scale between 1-10 Raw gets a 7 maybe a 7 ½ from me. Let me start off with a few things that I didn’t understand or like and then it’s on to the highlights and my wonderful theories.
Right before Summer Slam last month, the last Raw did very little to build up that show, and the pattern continued with this week’s Raw as well. The hype for Sunday’s show was so scarce that you would have thought that the illegitimate son angle was the theme of Unforgiven since this seem to be what most of the show was focused on. Vince McMahon has made himself the focal point of the shows and while Vince has been a lot of fun to watch in the last few weeks it still doesn’t make it right in my opinion to make that storyline so much more important than the shows two top matches, Cena/Orton feud and the HHH/Carlito feud at Unforgiven. So this is one thing that I just don’t understand, I guess I should be used to it but I just don’t get it.
I think I jinxed Santino Marella. I have been so happy with his non-wrestling character of insults that I have praised him like crazy, but this week Santino fell flat for me. It’s kind of like what they did with Ron Simmons. Creative takes a good thing and then starts having them to do more, only the more that they say the less funny it is. I still like Marella on the mic but this week he did not score high marks from me. Also I didn’t really care for the match with Santino vs. The newly released Sandman. Yeah this was one segment that bombed in a big way. And by the time Santino was backstage ordering Maria to come with him and taking out Ron Simmons and then using Simmons “DAMN,” I lost all interest in Santino. I say let’s try again next week.
Okay I might be totally over analyzing things, but Khali squashing Jeff Hardy was just another way to punish Hardy for what got him suspended last month. I’m going with that because why in the hell would Hardy with such fan support have to job to Smackdown’s Khali? I have to say I was less than thrilled by this, oh what the hell I was really pissed that Hardy was put into this match. With all the jobbers on Raw and Smackdown they certainly could have found someone else for to take Hardy’s place. And once Khali beat Jeff, why did it take Batista so long to come out and help Hardy? Wasn’t Dave also slow in aiding Rey Mysterio a couple of weeks ago? And why was Dave in trunks when he didn’t have a match? See I’m a lot deeper than most of you thought I was. Okay seriously there was one more thing that I did not care for or maybe I should say one more person that I didn’t care for. And that was JBL. After watching him during the opening it reminded me how annoying and unfunny this guy can be. For the most part I think I have gotten used to his announce work, I might not always like it but I don’t mind him.
But I did not care for him at all when he was out with Vince hoping that he could be Vince’s son. I don’t miss his “I Am A Wrestling God,” and I couldn’t understand why he was so anti Khali when he always puts Khali over on Smackdown. I just found Bradshaw to be too much for me. So other than what I just talked about I did like the rest Raw. And going back to the opening I will say that the Green Bay Wi., fans were extremely hot and they really made it a lot of fun when they gave Vince the business. And there was a rare sighting in the ring. I’m talking about Jeff Hardy on the mic. I thought he did a nice job and the best part was when he showed so much enthusiasm when he got the word that Vince was not his father. In fact I would have even liked JBL during this segment if he would have talked less. This opening started out really good but kind of lost it the longer it went on.
I liked the first match of the night with London/Kendrick vs. Cade and Murdoch. This was a very short match; unfortunately all the matches Monday night were short. But this was done very well and I am guessing that more time will be given to these four at Unforgiven; well I certainly hope more time will be given. Of course I got a kick out of Mr. Intellect, Triple H looking so serious and then pimping his brand new tee shirt, this was definitely a DX moment. But then the very serious Hunter took on Shelton Benjamin whom was picked by Carlito. This match again was very good, but because it was less than 10 minutes long, so much more could have come out of the match. I do like the NO DQ stipulation for Carlito. There is no doubt in my mind that Hunter is going to beat Carlito on Sunday, but still this stip adds just a little more to Sundays’ match.
Jillian Hall vs. Mickie James was okay I liked it but the fans were rather quiet while this was going on. I could understand that, Mickie is no longer the main diva on Raw, which I don’t get, and the fans have yet to really embrace Jillian. So without a storyline for these two women there is very little reason to have much interest in watching them take on each other. Randy Orton gave one if his best promos ever, I might be over stating things but I thought his mic skills and his facial expressions clicked so well. And John Cena going after Orton when Orton was in the ring definitely worked for me. I liked the attack and all the tension that went with on during this. I feel that Cena over did it with Vince backstage, but all in all Cena and Orton did a very good job heating things up, a very good job.
And now for the main event, the bastard son main event. It was no surprise to me that Hornswoggle was named the new McMahon, and I liked the way clues were given out eliminating the wrestlers that were out of the running. And when it came to the clue your son likes to play the game, the Green Bay crowd’s reaction had me laughing, it was like what? It’s Triple H? I just enjoyed the crowd so much at this point. And I also loved the crowds Kennedy chants. It made me feel bad that the suspension took place right when Mr. Kennedy was supposed to be their in his hometown. I thought it was cool that they were chanting his name. And as I said when it was announced it was the Little Bastard I saw it coming, but between Hunter laughing his ass off, Hornswoggle so hyped in the ring and Vince looking ill I really liked the outcome. Now let me give you my theories. And I think they are really good ones.
First many on the Internet feel that Mr. Kennedy is done, the angle now is over, but I don’t see that at all. I think it’s very possible that Kennedy when he returns in about 3 weeks will come in claiming that he can prove he’s Vince’s son. I really feel that this storyline is far from over. My second theory is did you happen to notice Hunter seemed quite upset that he could be a McMahon after sleeping with Stephanie and having a kid? Okay now remember we are talking about Triple H not Paul Levesque. Triple H knows that his mother and father are his biological parents, so I say that he was “faking” his anger to throw Vince off, because it’s Stephanie and Hunter that set this up. They did this because Vince faked his own death and this was their way to even the score. My last theory is that this is a DX prank and when Shawn Michaels returns they will reveal just what they did, and Stephanie could be working with HBK and Hunter. So to sum things up, I don’t feel that this angle is over, I really see it going on and getting better I really do.
Well Raw didn’t give us much for Unforgiven; let’s see what Smackdown can do for that show. I will be back on Sunday with my Unforgiven predictions. I have another request for anyone that can help. My reader is looking for Cm Punk’s first shirt he had in WWE with the fists, in a size small. If anyone knows where this shirt can be found you can email him at
