What a way to cap off summer with tomorrow’s Summer Slam pay per view. I have mixed feelings about this show. While I don’t think it’s an exceptionally strong card there are a few matches that I cannot wait to see. And yes Triple H is returning tomorrow night along with Rey Mysterio. I’m hoping that both guys have little if no ring rust and that they can bring a lot to their matches. I have been getting a lot of your predictions and I’m excited because it seems that as far as the WWE title match goes it’s right down the middle with half for Cena and half for Orton. I really don’t expect to do too well with my picks because I’m on the fence with at least three of the matches if not more. So let me get right to my Summer Slam predictions.
Divas Battle Royal
Is it possible that someone on the Smackdown roster is going to win this match and go against Candice for the title? Yeah I think it is very possible, but I’m going to stick with the woman that I thought of as soon as this match was made, Beth Phoenix. The way that Tazz and JR kept referring to Beth as Glamazon tells me that they want to give this woman a push. I have a feeling that this will not go on too long and with some of the women that are participating in the match. I think that it will turn out to be a pretty good match.
Winner: Beth Phoenix
Kane vs. Finlay
I would have liked a lot more of a build up with this feud, yet the little that we have gotten has been good. I’m a big Finlay fan and I really believe that Kane will have one of his better matches tomorrow night. Finlay is such a stiff wrestler and I think that both men are really going to go all out to makes this a decent match. I’m going with Kane because his pay per view wins as of late have been few and far between.
Winner: Kane
Umaga vs. Carlito vs. Mr. Kennedy
And the winner is, MR. KENNEDY…..KENNEDY. Yeah I think the only reason why Carlito is a part of this match is because he’s the one that’s going to get pinned. Here’s another match that won’t be the match of the night but it will be a good match. And lets face it each guy in here is capable of getting the crowd going and making them laugh. So add some humor to this and good wrestling and I can see this coming off quite well.
Winner: Mr. Kennedy
ECW Champion John Morrison vs. CM Punk
This is the first of many that I could go either way with. Up until Tuesday’s ECW I was going with Jim Morrison’s clone John Morrison. But after John beat CM I have got to go with Punk. And honestly I would love Punk to be champion because I saw how the fan’s reacted to him this past week and I think Punk could maybe just maybe get the fans into his title reign. And John Morrison chasing that title and keeping the feud going would definitely work for me. As you know I was so damn pleased with these two in Tuesday’s main event and there is no doubt in my mind that Morrison and Punk can put a 5 star match on. I just hope that Vince will allow these guys time to put on this 5 star match. This could be one of the best of the night.
Winner: CM Punk
Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero
This is a given, Rey is going to not only beat Chavo but I believe he’s going to make Chavo wish he never showed up. Mysterio I would think has a lot of pent up anger over the hell he received back in November at the hands of Chavo. You have to think this is going to be an excellent match and let’s face it the crowd is going to be behind Rey throughout the match. I am looking so forward to Rey’s return and this match.
Winner: Rey Mysterio
Triple H vs. King Booker
Trust me I’m not the only one that’s going to be cheering when I see Hunter. I expect the New Jersey crowd to go crazy when he comes out. They picked a good crowd for Hunter’s first night back. This match should have the fans in it from the time Hunter makes his entrance until the end.
I remember back in 2002 when Triple H returned it really took him close to a year to look good in the ring. I would like to think that this time it won’t take nearly as long, but I would be lying to you if ring rust with Hunter isn’t on my mind. This could be a very good match but then again as far as the wrestling goes this could be maybe one of the weakest matches of the night. I guess it all depends if Hunter has bounced back well enough from his quad injury. Ah another on the fence match, I really believe Hunter will win, but if Booker got the win it wouldn’t shock me. Since there has been so much hype for Hunter’s return I will stay with Hunter.
Winner: Hunter
World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali vs. Batista
If it was up to me Batista would get that title back. But damn I’m not a McMahon so I have no say in this. I think Dave should get that title and I will tell you why. Kane and Batista both came out losers last month against Khali. Yet over at Raw The Amazing Cena beat Khali back to back on pay per views. So it would piss me off if Batista alone could not get the victory and the title back. But I see Vince sending a message to all of us that don’t feel that Khali should have the belt. I can just hear Vince saying “deal with it,” and he keeps that belt on Khali for at least another month because in Vince’s world the bigger the better. There are two matches where I hope that my prediction is WRONG, and this is one of them.
Winner: Khali
WWE Champion John Cena vs. Randy Orton
Just like the Morrison/Punk feud had you asked me a week ago who was winning I would have said without a doubt RANDY ORTON. But not anymore. We have been in the Cena pattern mode. He gets the crap beaten out of him on all the Raw’s and at pay per views, HE WINS. I have this bad feeling that he’s beating Randy tomorrow night. I think it will be a major mistake to let Cena win another pay per view title match. But again Cena makes money for Vince and in Vince’s eyes that’s a good enough reason for him to keep him champion. Now there is one thing that I would love to see happen. Work with me here. WWE.com is really putting a lot of emphasis on the Cena/Orton match with HBK and his days with Marty Jannetty. They call it Turning Points and if you go there you will see what I’m talking about. So lately Shawn’s name is coming up a lot and I do mean a lot. What if Shawn shows up tomorrow night and interferes costing Orton the title and then maybe we get a HBK/Orton/Cena feud started the following night on Raw. Okay so maybe I’m just grasping at straws with my HBK scenario but as I said I want an Orton win but unfortunately I don’t see it coming tomorrow night. This is another match where I hope my pick is really wrong. I will say with Orton’s wrestling ability and there is definite chemistry between Cena and Orton I do expect to see a very good match here.
