Although it has almost become the norm for me to say this while writing Major Impact – what a fun show we had tonight! I’m continually impressed with this product while the rest of the internet wrestling scene can’t stand it. Don’t ask me how that dichotomy comes to be, but that’s where we’re at today, folks! Of course, I’ve been known to turn on a product in a matter of one or two shows…so I guess we’ll wait and see.
We were introduced to Karen Angle tonight (she’s smoking hot, too). You had to get a mini chuckle out of AJ Styles‘ comment (the Quote of the Night below) regarding Angle’s daughter at the beginning of the show. I was initially against Styles becoming part of the Christian Coalition, but I’ll tell you what – you get to see a different side of Styles as a member of this group. That’s a testament to his ability to be an all around entertainer in addition to an amazing wrestler.
I probably could have done with the Team 3D vs. Eric Young/Chris Harris match. I didn’t get much out of it.
Oh, and I figured out the solution to one of the problems that I’ve been having while watching TNA. I’ve been having a hard time remembering the less-well-known wrestlers. The problem is both that they don’t have catchy nicknames like “The Hitman” or “Latino Heat” as well as the fact that Tenay and West aren’t really emphasizing the existing nicknames. Okay, maybe I’m brainwashed from years and years of listening to Jim Ross on WWE television, but when Jim Ross says, “And Stone Cold just stunned the hell out of Triple H!” Well, you sorta get the picture…
We also had Jeremy Borash do his best Mean Gene-esque “Call the Hotline” promo for TNA Mobile. Another thing I got a kick out of watching!
Impact also featured a great X Division tag team match-up where my boys Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley came out to observe. I’m not going to list this match as the week’s major impact moment, but it’s always extremely entertaining to watch the lightweights running around the ring and beating each other up for my amusement!
I think it’s obvious what the major impact moment of the week was tonight, though. The debut of Andrew Martin, formerly known as “Test” on WWE’s Tuesday Show! I didn’t know Martin was debuting tonight – he may be a nice addition to TNA. Of course, he has that nasty backstage history that we may have to contend with at some point.
What a packed show Impact was – we also had the great in-ring promo by Kurt and Karen Angle. That was great stuff! Let’s see where this goes…
See you next week!
Quote of the Night:
“She looked like she was like 5!” – AJ Styles commenting on Kurt Angle’s daughter…who he thought was his wife!
“Honey, you want a candy bar? Another one? Let me ask you something. Do you want to end up looking fat like Samoa Joe? Or having thunder thighs like Mommy?” – Kurt Angle insulting his wife in front of the world
