The International Wrestling Cartel presented a first of its kind show in IWC history, as the action spilled outdoors and into left field as IWC presented its first annual Ellsworth Basebrawl live event. Festivities began early in the afternoon as IWC wrestlers, personalities, and fans competed in two special softball games, with each team winning one game. However, the fun and games would soon come to and end for the members of the IWC roster as feelings of team unity and sportsmanship quickly disappeared.
The scheduled main event of Mickey & Marshall Gambino (with sister Viki) defending the IWC Tag Titles against their current allies and teammates of Vendetta & cousin Jimmy DeMarco was proven to be nothing more than a ruse and conspiracy courtesy of the Gambino Family. After the “Kiss of Deathâ€, DeMarco laid down, allowing Mickey to pin him, ending the match before it ever got started. Promoter Norm Connors, along with Commissioner-for-a-day Erin West were less than pleased to say the least, and made sure The Family had to earn their winner’s share of the purse on that night. An impromptu eight man tag match was made, which saw all four members of the Family battle old rivals Babyface Fire, Shiima Xion & Jason Gory, as well as Sexual Harassment, Eric Xtasy & Justin Idol. Much like their battles in the past, it was fast-paced and out of control, and even saw Justin Idol deliver a moonsault from the TOP of the ring truck! Within all the carnage, Shiima Xion was able to pin Marshall Gambino for the win. BFF and Sexual Harassment celebrated with the city of Ellsworth, as The Gambino Family ran to their car, and immediately sped right out of town in embarrassment.
IWC Champion, and the apparent new Unholy Alliance leader, Dennis Gregory defended his championship against former member to the original Unholy Alliance “The Monster†Abyss. Since these two last clashed in 2006, both have made a compete 180-degree turn… Gregory more selfish and manipulative, Abyss more humanistic and compassionate. Despite Abyss’ inarguable size advantage, the Monster was at odds throughout the match, thanks for Steven Colter, longtime Alliance sympathizer and crooked official, being assigned as referee. It seemed as if Abyss had the title won, even overcoming the involvement of additional Gregory henchmen such as Sebastian Dark & Brent Albright, but Colter constantly found a way to protect the champion. Abyss’ anger turned toward Colter, as the biased referee disqualified the Weapon of Mass Destruction, to save his own life as much as to save Gregory’s title. SJK and Larry Sweeney emerged to run off the Alliance, leaving Abyss to extract his own form of physical revenge from the depraved Colter.
Super Indy Champion and newest Unholy Alliance recruit “Fabulous†John McChesney defended his title against the very man he defeated for the title two weeks beforehand thanks in large part to Dennis Gregory, none other than “Sweet & Sour†Larry Sweeney in a “Baseball Bat Matchâ€. A bat was placed in the center of the ring, whoever possessed it could use it however he pleased. McChesney took control on a technicality, bringing a second bat into play and focusing on Sweeney’s throat. Sweeney fought through the pain, much like he had two weeks earlier, and with no blood loss impairing Sweeney’s strength and vision, victory seemed to be imminent. However, as Sweeney reached for the bat, McChesney took advantage of the challenger’s back being turned, rolling him up and cheaply defeating him with a blatant pull of the tights.
Sterling James Keenan and Brent Albright’s personal issues that had been building ever since Albright helped screw SJK out of his rightfully deserved title shot last April, finally came to a head. After a physical confrontation between the two right after the second of the afternoon’s softball games, promoter Norm Connors ordered the two to meet in an Ellsworth Streetfight. The wrestling technique both men had become so famous for, was instantly out the window as the two brawled all over the field. At one point Albright positioned Sterling underneath the ring truck, and entered the vehicle, attempting to eliminate SJK from he and Gregory’s careers once and for all. However, Sterling would not quit, continuing to fight not only Albright, but Sebastian Dark at ringside as well. SJK was able to emerge victorious, finally completing that elusive final step on his road to the title. SJK was now ready to challenge for the IWC Title, and management was ready to give it to him… Sterling James Keenan challenges Dennis Gregory at the Court Time Sports Center on Saturday, August 4.
When ROH school graduates Ernie Osiris & Alex Payne challenged HENTAI to find any tag team partner to meet them in a tag match, most assumed it’d be a member of the Unholy Alliance. However, strangely enough, HENTAI’s first instinct was to call Delirious, whom he had quietly developed a friendship with while both were training under legendary former World Champion Dory Funk Jr. some years ago. Delirious, however, had prior engagements, but offered up his personal interpreter Daizee Haze, a very accomplished athlete in her own right who has held championships and competed all over the world, as a partner instead. HENTAI accepted, and he and Haze were not only able to work as a finely-tuned machine, but were able to defeat the young prospects that HENTAI had felt had disrespected him and the IWC locker room two weeks ago. However, one question remains unanswered… With rumors of The Unholy Alliance returning in full force on August 4, why was HENTAI nowhere to be seen during any of the Unholy Alliance’s deeds that night, and vice-versa?
Former IWC Champion Ricky Reyes defeated former IWC Super Indy Champion “Balls Hot†Troy Lords in a battle of two titleholders screwed out of their belts at Super Indy VI. Reyes was able to do something few men have been able to do in recent times in defeating Lords, and Reyes is making it clear he’s still a very dangerous force in the IWC Heavyweight Title picture.
The legendary Patriot made his IWC return facing Bubba the Bulldog, who was last seen in IWC calling out another American hero in the form of the man he helped train to become a professional wrestler, Kurt Angle. While the Bubba/Angle saga is still very much in the air, Bubba’s crusade took a step back when he was bested by the Patriot and his signature Uncle Slam.
