As many of you know I am ordering The Great American Bash to show my support for Vince McMahon and WWE. Both have been in my opinion treated very unfairly by the main stream media with the Chris Benoit situation. This doesn’t mean that the days of bashing Vince are gone; hell what fun would it be if I didn’t find something to complain about? Then again my goal isn’t to rip on Vince unless I feel he deserves it, but when it comes to what happened to Daniel and Nancy Benoit I don’t fault WWE at all. Anyway I want to give you my GAB picks. It’s odd but I’m not getting too many of your predictions in. I am thinking that maybe it’s because the majority of my emails seem to be focused on Smackdown’s new World Champion, Khali. I have gotten a LOT of email about that. In fact so much that GAB really hasn’t been a topic with most of my readers. Okay let me share my GAB predictions with you.
Cruiserweight Open For The Cruiserweight Title – Chavo vs. Jimmy Wang Yang vs. Shannon Moore vs. Jamie Noble vs. Funaki
Did we know this match was taking place? I sure didn’t. But it has been added and as much as I want to see this match, I have a feeling that because it is a Cruiserweight match and not the BIG MAN match for the title this won’t get a lot of time. But you can bet there will be plenty of action in tonight’s match. Okay I see a title change here; since Chavo’s next feud is supposed to be with Rey Mysterio I can’t see him remaining the champion, so I’m going to give this win to Jimmy Wang Yang.
Winner: Jimmy Wang Yang
Sandman vs. Carlito
This was another match that was just added. Just like the above match I don’t see this one taking too long, but hopefully Carlito and Sandman will make this good. Since Sandman has been getting Carlito each week, I’m going with a Carlito win tonight. As I said I would love to see this match really turn out well.
Winner: Carlito
United States Champion MVP vs. Matt Hardy
I am proud of both of these guys. First MVP. I had such a low opinion of him, but he has turned out to be one of Smackdown’s brightest new talent. And then there’s Matt Hardy whom always gives 110%, but since Vince has wised up and pushed this man week after week he has given Smackdown the shot in the arm that it needs. I believe this will be one of the top matches of the night, and while a part of me could see a loss for MVP, another part of me feels that MVP will beat Matt. So I’m going with MVP for the win, and hopefully this feud will continue.
Winner: MVP
Dusty Rhodes vs. Randy Orton (Texas Bull Rope Match)
I have to be very honest with you, even thought Dusty is loaded with charisma I’m not expecting too much tonight. I am hoping this is kept short. I think a short match will keep the fans into it and make this a little more entertaining. Don’t get me wrong I want to see it but my expectations are not very high, which might be a good thing. This is probably a big mistake, but I’m giving the win to Dusty, thinking that his son Cody will cause Orton the loss which will in turn get the Cody/Randy feud going for Summer Slam. But if Orton wins, trust me it will not be a big surprise to me.
Winner: Dusty Rhodes
Women’s Champion Candice Michelle vs. Melina
I truly believe that Melina and Candice will give their all tonight. Melina has looked so strong in the ring as of late, and Candice as I always say has improved so much. Hopefully this will be another good women’s match with Candice hanging on to the title.
Winner: Candice
Intercontinental Champion Umaga vs. Jeff Hardy
I have to give the win to Jeff Hardy. What can I say about Umaga without sounding like I’m putting him down? The guy has done everything that has been asked of him and he’s come through as the freaky Islander. But as far as Umaga keeping this title I just don’t see it. I don’t see him defending it week after week so I’m going with Hardy to beat Umaga and leave as the new IC champion. We all know that Jeff will take some major bumps and I think that Jeff can give this match some good offense so this doesn’t become an Umaga squash.
Winner: Jeff Hardy
ECW World Champion John Morrison vs. CM Punk
I am very happy about this match. I think you have two of wrestling’s best young talents in here. Again my only fear is that this will be a rushed match. A match that the fans in San Jose will have a hard time getting into. But I know I can’t wait to see Morrison and Punk go at it. Not only does Johnny Nitro have a new last name, but he has a new theme and a new look so I don’t expect Morrison to lose the title tonight or anytime soon.
Winner: John Morrison
World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali vs. Batista vs. Kane – Triple Threat Match
As I said the majority of the email that I have received is about World Champion Khali. And with only a few readers happy about this, most of you are not. In fact a lot of you are beyond angry.
I have so many thoughts about all of this. First I really feel bad about Edge being out and giving up the title. Watching him Friday night broke my heart and his departure is a big blow to Smackdown. Second, I feel that if they didn’t want Batista having the title back I would have done one of two things. Either given it to a very deserving Kane OR, I would have brought back Mr. Kennedy….Kennedy. He had not choice but to lose the title to Edge when he went down injured. Since Kennedy was supposedly going to become World Champion, I would I have given that title to him Friday night. I have absolutely nothing against Khali, in fact I have said since this program with Batista that he’s been playing a very good heel, but I don’t know about him being champion. I definitely see him winning tonight. I say he keeps that title until Summer Slam if not a little longer. Also Batista is SO over with the fans that maybe Dave chasing the title is really making him more of a fan favorite than usual.
Winner: Khali
WWE Champion John Cena vs. Bobby Lashley
I have to tell you I have no interest in this match at all. Many feel that Lashley will win and Cena will get the title back at Summer Slam. If that’s the case then I would rather have Cena just beat Lashley and never see these two feud again.
Winner: John Cena
This might not be the strongest pay per view card but there are definitely some good matches on here. Feel free to send me your predictions, and I’ll be back on Tuesday to give you my thoughts on this show and Raw. And maybe even tell you that I got every prediction right. What a dream come true that would be.
