Holy smokes! Abyss in a match on Impact?! No way!
It’s nice to see the big man in action on free television once in a while. I guess that’s part of TNA building up to this weekend’s pay-per-view, Victory Road. And, for shits and giggles, we got Sting in the ring beating up Tomko and Styles after Abyss’ match.
Oh, and I couldn’t forget this week’s major impact – Abyss speaking for the first time! Yeah, it wasn’t earth-shattering and the wrestling world is still the same, but it was well done and Abyss had the right face and intensity while speaking. Good job.
We also had a nice little match with Kaz and Seratonin. Honestly, you could forget that these guys are even in TNA with the meager television time that they are getting. I wonder what the deal is there. And someone tell Raven to clean up his look – he doesn’t look like the guy that the fans remember and that’s not a good thing. TNA is looking to bring in fans, not re-educate the masses on who a major former ECW star is now that he’s in TNA.
Just my opinion.
Kinda funny bit of a segment with James Storm and Don West. But I still go back to what I said last week, the alcoholic stuff is probably not the best angle for TNA to be using on their 42 minutes each week. Aside from all of that, we saw all of this crap already with Jake Roberts and Jerry Lawler in WWE during the late 1990’s. Of course Russo was writing it then, too. Hmmm…
Absolutely hilarious segment between “Old School” vs. “New School” with Kevin Nash as the moderator. Great stuff. Too bad I don’t know the name of the other young guy other than Chris Sabin.
Of course, this show ended with all of the main event guys in the ring and a video montage pushing the Victory Road pay-per-view this weekend. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to get it, but I’ll be looking for results late Sunday night!
Hey – this TNA Major Impact column marks 1 more Major Impact than I have Impact Wishes on the site. That means that this column managed to survive its first test – outlast the previous incarnation! Thanks to everyone for checking it out each week!
Quote of the Night:
“Tomko. Styles. Three days. Click. Doomsday.” – The first words that Abyss has ever spoken in the almost 5 year history of TNA Wrestling
“If the lead singer of Nickelback could shut up…” – One of the X-Division guys telling Jerry Lynn to shut it up
“What’s that Jerry? You took me under your wang?” – Chris Sabin to Jerry Lynn as he and the other X-Division guy had their shirts rolled up and were pinching their nipples
