Kevin Nash was on FOX News Channel’s “Hannity and Colmes” television show. Below are the key points of his interview:
– Nash said that he has never witnessed “roid rage,” but there is steroid use in professional wrestling.
– He admitted to using steroids in the past, but did not go into a rage at any time.
– Nash said he didn’t want to speculate, but he thought that there were some marital problems going on.
– Nash wouldn’t discount that steroids had anything to do with the murders. He said that the media didn’t find that the alcohol angle was sexy enough for the media, citing that alcohol was found on the scene and that Benoit had a history of alcohol problems.
– He also said that there is a lot of misinformation out there, claiming that the track marks on the son’s arm couldn’t have been from steroids because steroids aren’t taken intravenously.
– Nash disagreed that the steroids were not being used for theraputic purposes. He fought one of the hosts who claimed that the steroids were NOT being used for theraputic purposes
– Nash immediately dismissed that wrestling was a sport like baseball, saying that it was a form of entertainment.
– When asked whether or not wrestlers should be testifying before Congress, Nash said that when you break the law, you break the law no matter who you are.
– He kept saying that the media loved the “steroid” angle and that no one seems to be willing to wait for the toxicology reports to come out.
– One of the hosts said that Nash claiming he’s never seen roid rage damaged his credibility. He responded by asking the host if she ever took steroids (to which she said “no”). At that point, he said you’ve never taken steroids and I have and you’re doubting my credibility about never seeing roid rage. He said that he’s just never seen it before.
The interview ended on that note and Nash had a very angry and exasperated look on his face as they hit the commercial break. Overall, Nash did a great job of defending his position while he was pitted against two hosts who were looking for some admission that steroid abuse is not only rampant in the wrestling business, but that it was the absolute cause of the Benoit double-murder suicide. Nash wouldn’t give them that ground and erred on the side of waiting for the facts, which neither host would directly address. He handled himself very well during this interview.
