We now have more details on the Jerry Lawler/Sal Corrente confrontation that took place at a Sam’s Town Memphis pro wrestling show on June 15th. As we reported earlier, it appeared that Corrente had struck a fan after the main event where TV announcer Cory Maclin & Koko Ware beat The Masked Assassins in a cage match (Corrente was managing The Assassins). Even though the cameras clearly show he didn’t strike the fan, Lawler believed differently.
As Corrente was leaving the ring Lawler came running out and landed two hard punches knocking him off his feet. One report said it even cracked his jaw. After he was hit Corrente went running back to the locker room saying Lawler shot on him. He had another angle to do on the show but told security he was unable to finish. Corrente also missed the television tapings the next morning.
Many close to the situation say that Corrente rubbed many people the wrong way, including Lawler. According to one source he came in with promises of having money behind him to invest in running shows, acted like a big shot, but never materialized.
