I am going to let Vengeance go tonight. It’s not because I think it’s going to be a bad show, because I don’t. I think it’s going to be a very good show, but I ordered One Night Stand three weeks ago and it’s just too soon to put out $40.00 again. I will be checking results throughout the night which is something I always enjoy doing. So let me give you my predictions and I really think tonight will be my night to shine, because I plan on getting them all right. Even I find that last sentence funny. Okay here I go.
Women’s Champion Melina vs. Candice Michelle
This match in my opinion is the toughest to call. I am really on the fence with which woman will come out the winner. Part of me feels that Melina will beat Candice. I feel this way because Melina is the true wrestler when you compare her to Candice. YET, Candice has come a long way and she has been built up so well in the last few months that I would think that all the hype about her was done to get her ready for becoming the women’s champion. Also, is it me? Or do most of you feel like Melina has lost it not in the ring but with her character. It’s like she’s stagnant, and stale. With everything that I have said about Candice and Melina you would think I would go with Candice but the old brain here is telling me to stay with Melina. So that’s what I’m going to do, I’m going to stick with the current champion and maybe at the Great American Bash Candice will then defeat Melina.
Winner: Melina
Cruiserweight Champion Chavo Guerrero vs. Jimmy Wang Yang
I will be very surprised if Chavo wins this match. I think Yang is going to leave the winner and I’m hoping that Chavo gets moved out of the cruiserweight division and back into a nice meaty mid card feud. I was not a Jimmy Wang Yang fan when WWE brought him back with this red neck character. But even though the character did nothing for me as a wrestler I have always loved watching him in the ring. Well after a few months Jimmy Wang Yang, the red neck won me over and I just love this guy. It would make me very happy to see him as the new Cruiserweight champion. Now I know that this is going to be a very good match, but two things hit me about this one right away. One is that even though Yang and Chavo will put on a terrific match the crowd won’t be into either guy. And two would be that since both of these men are not “BIG GUYS” like the newly departed Mr. McMahon loved, that this match will be a very short match. I hope I am wrong and that the crowd is loud and into the match and that they get a decent amount of time to show just how good they both are.
Winner: Jimmy Wang Yang
Open Challenge for the WWE Tag Team Championship
Deuce and Domino are not losing. So it really doesn’t matter who opposes them tonight. The rumor is that it’s going to be Sgt. Slaughter and Jimmy Superfly Snuka. In case you didn’t know Snuka is the father of Deuce (JimmySnuka, Jr.) so supposedly Superfly and Slaughter will take the challenge. I’m not big on Deuce and Domino mainly because of the gimmick, so I don’t expect this to be anything special.
Winner: Deuce and Domino
World Tag Team Champions Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch vs. The Hardys
Just like Deuce and Domino, Cade and Murdoch will not lose tonight. I’m guessing that this could be the last time we see Matt and Jeff Hardy together for awhile since I’m reading that they are both in for a major push. This should be a very good match and you can bet that the Hardy fans will be nice and loud and will help make this something a good segment.
Winners: Cade/Murdoch
United States Champion MVP vs. Ric Flair
Ric Flair’s wrestling has really looked good in the last two weeks on Smackdown. And MVP has really stepped up and has looked solid in his matches. This should be another good match and instead of Carlito facing Ric, it’s MVP’s turn. I do not see Ric Flair winning, how can he when MVP is going to cheat and basically just torment the hell out of Flair?
Winner: MVP
Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella vs. Umaga
Now here’s the thing, how the hell can Marella beat Umaga? Let’s face it that would be a really big upset. So here’s what I think is going to happen. Umaga will win on a DQ, which will allow Marella to keep the title. That DQ is going to happen when William Regal comes out and interferes in the match. The Regal/Marella feud got started after Monday’s night backstage segment with Marella stepping in when Regal was flirting with Maria. We all saw that William was just a little put out buy Santino. So I definitely see him causing the DQ, and this way Umaga wins but the belt remains on Marella, which is a win win situation for all, well for some.
Winner: Santino Marella
CM Punk vs. Chris Benoit for the vacant ECW World Title
This is THE match that I would love to see. I don’t know how many of you saw Benoit vs. Burke on ECW last Tuesday. If you missed it you missed a fantastic match. And I think this match will be just as good if not better. It’s going to be interesting to have two faces going against each other. I just think these two guys are going to put on a hell of match. I am going with Benoit for the win. And I hope I am right because I would love Chris to have that title and be the guy that ECW focuses on each week.
Winner: Chris Benoit
World Heavyweight Champion Edge vs. Batista (Last Chance Match)
Now I’m only guessing that Cena’s match will be the main event. And if that’s the case that kind of upsets me. Edge and Batista have put on back to back super title matches, and I think it’s only fair to let these two have the main event. I have been so pleased by the job Batista has done since April, and Edge is always consistent in the ring. I’m thinking that Batista and Edge will do it again tonight and have one of the best matches of the show. I do not see Dave winning, I see him taking on a new opponent after tonight, and same goes for Edge. But along with the Punk/Benoit match this is another match that I feel bad that I won’t see.
Winner: Edge
WWE Championship Challenge Match John Cena vs. Mick Foley vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Randy Orton vs. King Booker
I don’t remember ever seeing a title match with five guys before. This should be quite entertaining. I’m still not into Mick Foley being in here, but he is and I’m sure he’ll give his all. Cena is going to leave with the belt because he is the AMAZING CENA and if he could beat the giant Khali, and the monster Umaga then having four guys in the ring will be like nothing to him.
Winner: John Cena
As you can see the card isn’t bad at all. My one fear is that the Mr. McMahon angle is going to be continued and drag this show down. I really hope that Stephanie isn’t on this a lot because if she is it could be a long night. Thank you for sending me your predictions and keep them coming there’s still time. I want to end by saying a few words about Smackdown. I loved the show Friday night. The show was much better than Raw and ECW. The Vince stuff was really kept to a minimum and the matches that we got were very good. It was a pleasure watching such a good show. Remember tomorrow night Raw is three hours long. Supposedly there are going to be a lot of surprise guests, and because it’s a Mr. McMahon memorial I’m a little worried about just how this show will turn out.
