Nobody expected so much feedback and the type of response to the Vince McMahon storyline. As such, WWE is actually shifting the entire attention away from the Draft and Vengeance PPV to the Vince incident. The plan is to do a Dallas “Who shot JR?” type of storyline, as in who tried to whack Mr. McMahon. It should be the main story in the company for the next month or two.
They moved the Wednesday WWE.com draft to Sunday because creative has been working 24/7 on how to follow-up Vince’s departure.
The ending had NOTHING to do with the Sopranos’ ending. WWE actually shot the limo stunt over the weekend before they knew how the Sopranos’ ending turns out, and they had been planning the stunt weeks in advance. They were lucky to get good timing and therefore have used the Sopranos in press releases, etc, to gather more media attention. They brought in a special stunt team to do the whole thing (which is why it looked so impressive), and just pasted the video over the live shot of Vince going into the limo. Nobody in the company new about the ending except Vince, people involved with the stunt, and a few upper management members.
