Let’s see where to start. What should I talk about first? The demise of Vince McMahon or the big draft on last night’s Raw? I’ll tell you I loved the show last night. While a few of the trades didn’t sit well with me, for the most part I was happy with the way the draft came off and even happier that Vince will be off TV for a while. Hell if you go by WWE.com he’ll be off TV forever.
A lot of you made me laugh when you sent me emails saying that I got my wish or I must be very happy now. You guys know me so well and yes I am very happy. So let’s talk about the “DEATH” of Vince first.
WWE.com just put up a picture of their building with the flag half-staff. And there’s an article about how the presumed death of McMahon is affecting some of WWE’s employees. I have to say WWE is certainly making quite an angle out of this. And what I found very humorous was that a paper in Connecticut posted an article about the death of Vince. Whoever wrote it believes that Vince was killed on Raw. Wow I have to admit I’m smiling with all of this. Let me say this. When Vince walked out of the arena last night I figured that he was going to either walk in front of a car, or off a bridge and commit suicide. When the camera zoomed out as Vince was entering the limo I had a feeling the car was going to blow up. And trust me I’m not just saying that. So I wasn’t surprised but I have to say as much as I find WWE’s coverage very creepy this is a great way to keep him away. Let’s face it Vince wore out his welcome MONTHS ago. Now I would have thought this was suicide, but the angle is who did this to Vince McMahon? So I guess this will be the next major storyline in WWE.
I liked the McMahon Appreciation night. Stone Cold did an awesome job bashing Vince and it was great to see Bret Hart and so many others. This all appealed to me because we only got Vince for a few seconds at the beginning of the show and then not again until the end. Bringing in so many legends was a great way to keep the fans interested in all of this. Now my only complaint has to do with Mick Foley. While I thought his mic work was excellent I want to know why the hell he is in the Vengeance match for the WWE title against Cena, Randy Orton, Booker T and Bobby Lashley. Why is this necessary? I still feel that Mick should be a manager (and I’ll tell you who I would love to see him manage in a little bit.) instead of going out there so out of shape and being put in a main match. But hey this will be just another match in which John Cena, or as I now call him, Mr. Amazing will beat all four guys to continue holding on to the title. But as I said Vince McMahon Appreciation Night was a lot of fun to watch as was the draft.
I’m not going to even get into the matches because I want to focus on the draft. In my opinion the one show that really suffered was ECW. Now, getting Chris Benoit is as good as it gets, and believe me that move totally shocked the hell out of me. But, they lost Lashley, gained Benoit and Boogeyman that was it. I would have liked to have seen a few more guys moved to ECW. However with Chris there and with CM Punk, and Burke still there this could turn out to be a positive for the brand, and with the supplemental draft on Sunday, yes it was moved from tomorrow to Sunday due to the McMahon tragedy, maybe ECW will pick up some high-flyers which would please me very much. So if ECW suffered last night, Smackdown came in second place. They lost Mr. Kennedy….Kennedy and Booker T, and got Torrie Wilson, and Chris Masters. They also got Khali and Ric Flair. Now Khali and Masters I kind of figured would happen, but Flair was another surprise to me. And I think this was a good move. Ric will bring a lot to the show especially in the promo department. Unfortunately the Master challenge will just continue on Smackdown and I’m certainly not looking forward to that. And will Khali get another title shot on Smackdown? I suppose that’s possible. I talk about ECW getting some top guys, but I would have thought Smackdown would have gotten at least one major star, then again, Edge moved there a few months ago and maybe he was that major star. And Smackdown does have Batista, and Rey Mysterio and Matt Hardy so again maybe things will work out just fine.
But last night Raw came out on top with Kennedy and Booker moving there. They also got Bobby Lashley. I figured Lashley would remain with ECW making him the top guy, but we all know the late Vince McMahon loved big guys and he not only put Lashley on Raw but also Snitzky. And Snitzky I saw coming right after Lashley got drafted. I emailed my friend and said with Lashley on Raw, and Khali gone watch Snitzky make it over there and sure enough I was right. So now we get a Snitzky/Cena feud? I don’t want to even think about that one. As far as Lashley goes, I was very disappointed the way he just gave up his Championship belt. He wasn’t happy about it, yet he didn’t exactly fight to keep it. His interaction with Coach left a lot to be desired. But his match against Chris Benoit was very good and Lashley did a nice job out there.
And I would have Mick Foley manage Lashley and be Lashley’s mouthpiece. I think Mick could do a lot of good for Bobby I really do. With Kennedy, Lashley and Booker now with Raw I see all three somewhere down the line feuding with Cena. I also see HBK and Kennedy going at in the near future. Also Shawn vs. Booker I’m sure we will see. And if Hunter remains a face I would not be surprised to see a heel Lashley go against Triple H. No matter what happens I think we are going to see a lot of new feuds with the top guys on Raw, and that is a GOOD THING. I don’t want to say that I’m concerned about ECW or Smackdown because as I said the last part of the draft will happen on Sunday so I’m waiting for Sunday to get the final results.
But I really loved the show and the Wilkes-Barre, Pa., crowd was on fire just like Vince’s limo. Hey keep checking the sites because more and more funny items are coming out about the media buying into all of this. I will be back on Sunday because I would like to talk about Smackdown and the draft. By the way Chris Benoit will team up with Batista one last time on Smackdown against Edge and MVP. That should be a hot match.
