There was some great action Saturday night at the Cleburne Sportatorium as New Age Wrestling put on quite a show.
Lance Hoyt of TNA fame was in town to wrestle, while the Main Attractions — Livewire and Viper — wrestled in singles matches. Hoyt even took time out to take pictures with the fans, including my three children, as did the rest of the NAW stars.
And although that was great, the greatest event of the night was the lack of having to deal with Simply Fabulous.
That’s right. The leaders of Damage Inc. were not there, couldn’t be found.
Glory, glory, hallelujah.
I’ll get back to Simply Horrendous later.
I’ve got other things to discuss.
The first match of the night saw the light heavyweight champion Mercenary take on “The War Machine” Tazz.
Tazz was making his debut in NAW as he is currently attending the Texas Wrestling Ranch.
Tazz, who hails from Grandview, made quite an impression in the ring, nearly lasting the 10-minute time limit with Mercenary.
However, just like his last couple of opponents, Mercenary got the win using his finishing move, the Impaler, to perfection and getting the pin over young Tazz.
In the battle of the big men, Michael Faith, sporting a bit of a new look with a shaved head, took on Hot Sauce. Both men put on quite a show with Faith, who tips the scales around 350 pounds, winning over Hot Sauce, about 370 pounds, by submission.
In perhaps the most entertaining match of the night, Rock Bannon, one half of the New Age Cowboys, won by disqualification over “The Prettiest Man in Pink” Max Muscles. Bannon slammed a chair into the mat while the ref was distracted, chunked the chair to Muscles and dropped to the mat, pretending Muscles had hit him with the chair.
The ref saw Muscles with the chair and Bannon on the mat. The disqualification was called for much to the chagrin of Muscles and the fans.
Viper picked up a huge win in singles over Vexx by using a version of a gut-wrench suplex off the top rope. The finishing move is called the Viper Slam and it led to a 1-2-3 victory for the popular Viper.
Venom, the former manager of Mercenary, confronted his former Crue member. Last week, Mercenary fired Venom after beating his former Crue mate, Seth Shai. Mercenary claimed he had won the light heavyweight title on his own, defended it on his own and doesn’t need anyone to help him.
A little later, it took a little help from Venom’s cane for Shai to beat the All-American Maddog for the NAW Texas heavyweight title. Shai drilled Maddog from behind with the cane, knocking out the former champ. Shai clamped on his finishing move, but with Maddog out, the ref had no choice but to call the match and award the belt to Shai.
In the main event, Hoyt was up against NAW’s most electrifying man, Livewire.
But before the match, Hoyt had a few choice words to say about the NAW fans, how he was too good to be in attendance in a piece of crap town like Cleburne.
Livewire pushed Hoyt to the limit in the match, but in the end, Hoyt had to use the ropes for leverage to pin Livewire.
But even with all of the great action, it was still bothering me about Simply Fabulous, Damage Inc. and the so-called Higher Power.
I asked for a little time to discuss my concerns on the microphone and general manager Devin Storm allowed me to do so.
After thanking Storm for the time, I thanked NAW for the great wrestling action they have been providing to all of the fans at the Cleburne Sportatorium.
But I soon told the fans my main mission in life right now is to unmask the Higher Power and reveal his identity to the fans.
I have done some investigating already and am on the track of finding out who the man is pulling the strings for Damage Inc.
I know Damage Inc. wasn’t in attendance last night. My guess is that they were all at Barbie’s house, the Dream Trailer, eating fish sticks and drinking cheap beer. I think Bash was probably really drunk and trying to guess which bug would be the next to be zapped by the bug zapper hanging near the Corvette up on blocks.
Even though you were too scared to show up and hear what I had to say, let this be a warning to you Simply Fabulous. Let this be a warning to you Barbie Doll and Bash. Let this be a warning to all of Damage Inc.
I will find out who the Higher Power is.
And there is nothing you can do about it.
That’s all I have to say about that.
